I got to see some of tOSU spring game.
Does the starting QB have an injury? Coming off surgery? He can't throw a deep ball over 40 yards to save his life. Every deep throw, the Corners were able to catch up, and wait for about 3 seconds, before it finally fell into their hands. He had guys 10 yards open, throws it, its an INT, underthrown? Has this always been a problem? Pryor will definately get looks if he's not redshirted.
Heard Claussen wasn't very good, but he's coming off an injury.
nebraska defense is still horrible. NU WR miles wide open down field(it's spring game, but same shit as last year for their D, glaring weaknesses). They are in for a long season, they expect major improvement, with that D and players they have on Defensive side, it's going to be another long season for Pink Shirts. Ganz better put up 40-50 a game.
If chase daniel goes down, Mizzou is fucked. #2,#3,#4 on depth charts are not BCS Qb's. I don;t think any of them could start at Div1AA. They better hope Gabbert learns a lot from Daniel in summer practice, they are going to need him in an emergency. Yikes. Mizzou front 4, still can't stop the run. Weak ass system eberflus puts in. Their 2 deep zone is horrid.
I like the Rb position a ton this year, temple was good, washington is better, and JJ is solid.
Anyone else see or watch their teams spring games? Spring games are dog and pony shows, but you can see trends continue from last season in these games!

Re: Spring Games
Speaking as somebody who was actually at the Nebraska Spring-game and has followed practice-reports I gotta disagree. Getting open on a couple long-balls doesn't mean our D hasn't improved considerably. This is not going to be the blackshirt-D of old. We lost a fair amount of guys and we are still recovering from the trainwreck that Coz wrought(our lb's were so undercoached a guy that just moved from rb looks to be starting in the Fall). But I'll lay you any amount you want the D will be way better than last year. The D was swarming to the ball, the hitting was better, and the db's were playing more aggressively. I'd say we'll be ranked in the middle of the NCAA-pack with a D that improves over the season and creates a solid amount of turnovers. We will not be horrid, we'll be average, but not horrid.
Our O looked about like the coaches said it would. We are still running the WCO. But we have changed the blocking style/schemes to have a more physical rushing attack. We are also using some spread-option elements. I don't know if our back-up qb's are ready to beat anyone worth a shit. Witt has the edge for #2 now but folks are hoping Lee can pass him because he is the superior athlete.
Recruits were impressed with the sellout, the enthusiasm around the program, and the staff's commitment. But the weekend hasn't bore fruit yet. Likely helped us bring-in some walk-ons but remains to be seen if any out-of-staters were significantly swayed. IMO this staff is going to have to win some games before they can really get recruiting going again.

You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
Re: Spring Games
Sanchez hit Travon Patterson on a 40 yard deep ball in stride for a TD
Aaron Corp was the best QB at USCs spring game, lead the team to a few TDs and it was hard to believe the other 2 QBs were Parade High School Players of the year when he looked to be the sharpest
Damien Williams looked very good too.
Marc Tyler showed some rust and dropped the ball twice.
Clay Matthews Jr was moved from OLB to Rush end similar to how Brian Cushing was 2 years ago, Cushing, Rey and Luther Brown looked like a great LB tandem but the second three of Chris Galipo, Jordan Campbell and Kaiuka Maieva looked awesome as well.
last years High School Player of the Year and USC commit Matt Barkley was on the field and with the Nike LA football camp taking place there the next day, the West Coasts best and brightest were there at the Coliseum and hanging out with the team and fans.
Matt Barkley (Mater Dei, '09, QB) USC commit
Devon Kennard (Desert Vista, '09, DE)
Kevin Graf (Agoura, '09, OG)USC commit
Byron Moore (Harbor City, '09, S)
Patrick Hall (St. Bonaventure, '09, RB)USC commit
Dillon Baxter (San Diego, '010, RB)
Morrell Presley (Carson, '09, TE)USC commit
TJ Mcdonald (Edison, '09, DB) USC commit
Cliff Harris (Edison, '09, CB)
Travis Brown (Clovis West, '09, CB)
Rolando Jefferson (Edison, '09, WR)
Vontaze Burfect (Centenial, '09, LB) USC commit
were there for sure, I heard Shaq Evans a WR from Inglewood was there also and was playing catch with Barkley with Hall and the Fresno kids who all came down with TJ McDonalds dad, USC alumn and Edison coach Tim McDonald

Re: Spring Games
Clausen says he is 100% but went 10-27 with an int and a td in the spring game and the DL wasnt rushing on pass plays. They'd just stand there when the word "pass" was yelled, they may have been counting 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4 Mississippi, 5 Mississippi and just didnt know what came after 2 Mississippi but whats 100% Clausen going to do when he actually sees a pass rush?
