Badge by Cream.

Aw, hell, I'll fess up -- this is a cheap trolljob to drum up some tunes I've forgotten about or am not familiar with.

I don't know. It hasn't landed on a version of Guitar Hero yet, so I can't judge if its the best bridge in a short song, yet.Dinsdale wrote:Badge by Cream.

Re: Best bridge in a short song
BTW -- the Beatles' Here Comes The Sun riff was the bridge of Badge with about one note changed... George tought it was too good to waste on EC.
Funny thing with EC... when he works with someone else, he's fucking brilliant. Someone else writing/cowriting, help on vocals, help on guitar, help with horns...
But on his own, he blows chunks.
Cream -- badass start to finish (grew up on Disraeli Gears)
Cocaine -- cover tune (I see EC made an album with JJ Cale, obviously due to guilt, and tought JJ deserved a retirement payday)
D&D's -- sure
She's Waiting -- had help
Promises -- not his tune, and had help with the vocals
And the list goes on...
Speaking of which, tying the whole bridge thing and EC sucks without help loose ends together...
The Core.

makes sense. I didn't know Forever Man was NOT an EC song until I just looked it up.
Re: Best bridge in a short song
I'll save you future research -- if it's a song involving EC, and it's good, it's not his song, or was cowritten with someone else.

He did write the piece of crap known as Wonderful Tonight.
Yet he needed help rewriting THE EXACT SAME FUCKING SONG in Tears In Heaven.
And they gave him a Grammy for changing the words to a song that sucked to start with.

you're right for once, WT and TIH are terrible songs. I always hated those piles of crap.

My favourite bridge is the one you throw yourself off of.

I never really made the whole "Eric Clapton sucks without help" connection either, but yeah, not that I think about it, it's true. From The Cradle might be his best album, and it's ALL covers...

I like Clapton's version of Tulsa Time. not a huge fan of his solo stuff.

I was hoping to be able to go all "in your face" by citing Blues Power. But Leon Russell co-wrote it. So I guess the law's the law.Dinsdale wrote:Funny thing with EC... when he works with someone else, he's fucking brilliant. Wow. This is a toughie. I'm more accustomed to recogizing breaks than bridges. I'll think about it.
