I'm sure the O/U will break 4 digits.
Texas Tech and Houston have signed a home and away for the '09 and '10 seasons. Awesome.
I'm glad to see the AD work these deals. The home/away with Oregon and Miami from years past were okay, but definitely did not have the lore of a regional team. The Oklahoma State game at Robertson Stadium back in '06 had an unbelieveable atmosphere. It was a legit sellout with the fans standing and cheering the entire game. The last time I saw that kind of love for Cougar football was the UCLA game back in '98 when Cade McNown said during the postgame press conference about how dirty our team was. Cracked me up to hear that bitch whine like he did and then Kim Helton called out for it.
Hopefully, AD Dave Maggard can sign another good series or '11 and '12 against Baylor or aTm. I'm pretty sure Texas won't sign a series against the Coogs until the 22nd century.

It was OK by Oregon, too.

Yeah, that was a dark day. We lived in Boston at the time and came to Houston for the double header. RICE during the day, UH v Texas at night. Turns out we had no idea about the situation until we arrived at the HS stadium and were told we could go watch the game at the basketball arena. Why the hell we would do that was beyond me when it was on live on ESPN. Never did get our money back for those tickets either.I'm pretty sure Texas won't sign a series against the Coogs until the 22nd century.
Rumor around West U is that an extension with Texas will be announced soon. Here's hoping as it has gone beyond football and put some big money in our pockets.

I think it would be in Houston's best interest to agree to whatever terms Texas threw out at them to get back into good graces with them.Left Seater wrote:Rumor around West U is that an extension with Texas will be announced soon. I'm thinking a Reliant Stadium game will do the trick.

You think? I don't know enough about Texas' thoughts, but remember we have agreed to play the games here in Houston at Reliant. And wasn't that the whole issue around your last contract with them? Bleacher gate was just the icing on the cake, but the bigger issue was you guys were in beach of contract because the original contract called for like 30K worth of tickets to be provided to Texas, which was the capacity of your stadium when you moved the game back there. The bleachers were brought in to try to provide as many seats as possible since you guys didn't want to play at the dome.I think it would be in Houston's best interest to agree to whatever terms Texas threw out at them to get back into good graces with them.

Not sure Texas would believe you guys if you tried it again.

Who knows what the relationship is like. I hope they can reconcile and play a game down here sooner rather than later. 'Tis a shame things went down the way they did when they last played here.

Not a bad pick-up for Tech, still not ballsy-scheduling but at-least Houston is no cupcake and it creates regional interest.
You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?

If you have some time to waste, watch a replay of that game in '98 in Houston, at all the late hits, the out of bounds hits (like the one that broke Freddy Mitchell's leg), etc....RumpleForeskin wrote: The last time I saw that kind of love for Cougar football was the UCLA game back in '98 when Cade McNown said during the postgame press conference about how dirty our team was. Houston knew they couldn't compete talent-wise so they figured they had nothing to lose but to play chicken-shit football...especially since it was the final game of that home and home series... no worry of payback....

Yeah, I was there. I saw the late hits, but it was justified after seeing Afraid McClown's act in the post game presser. He was a little bitch who couldn't take dirty play from a far more inferior opponent. No wonder he couldn't cut it as a pro.
