Your underrated players to watch

Who sticks out for your team so far that will surprise folks?

Jordan Norwood - sr WR, son of a former assistant. Kid is 5'6" 175 soaking wet, but he's tough as nails...and he catches everything near him. He's been our best WR by far so far...and has been dependable since 2005. Derrick Williams has been something of a disappointment since coming to PSU, but Norwood, a walk-on with few if any offers, has vastly exceeded expectations. If you end up watching a PSU game this year, you'll see Jordan making tough catches all over the field.

Navarro Bowman - OLB, underclassman. Fast as hell, and also shows pretty darn good pass protection skills. He started the year in Joe's infamous doghouse, but he's been kicking ass this year...definitely one of our best defensive players, and the only LB really shining at this point.

Darrell Scott is getting all the hype (and deservedly so), but Rodney "Speedy" Stewart could be a big-play threat if he learns how to hold onto the ball.

Scott's uncle, Josh Smith, is looking like he could end up being our best WR, and he's only a sophomore.

Clay Matthews Jr. Has sat the bench for 3 years, when he comes in the game now he brings 4.5 speed as a pass rusher who can drop back in zones and hits like a truck.

Taurus Johnson - WR

He missed the latter part of last season with an injury and I think that had a good deal to do with our losing streak. He's not the biggest or fastest WR on our team, but he is the most dependable. The thing I like most about him is that he is not afraid to go into the middle of the field and take a big hit to make a play.

His brother is a scaryfast LB at Oregon. Had a fine game saturday.

The Pac might be in a slight down year, but comparing legitimate D1 BCS programs to Sun Belt slappys and the like is just whack.

Ryan Broyles, WR, FR - Kid has been money. He served a suspension in the first game but came out like a juggernaut in his debut against Cincinnati with 7 catches for 141 yards and TD. Continued the next week against the Huskies with 3 catches for 85 yards and another TD that involved a sweet double madden spin move on two Husky defenders before breaking free for the TD.

Darren Evans (RB) - Redshirted last season and is, for some dumbfuck Beamer reason, behind Kenny Lewis Jr on the depth chart. Kenny Lewis never fails to get tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Evans gets positive yards whenever he gets the ball and has scored a TD in each game. The stats do not look like much; however, considering the skidmark that is the Hokie offense, he has been the only playmaker.

John Clay, RB. Dude was a beast as a junior in high school, when he rushed for 2,032 yards and 30 touchdowns and led his team to a state championship. Getting a little bit of playing time behind P.J. Hill and Zach Brown, will probably get more as the season progresses.

ok, i wasn't going to homer, and put a MU player, i thought you wanted an underrated College football player, so went with a guy who gets no love and is a hell of a ball player(max hall)


So for Mizzou

Elvis Fisher LT Redshirt freshman beat out a talented OL core to win starting job, and has been very good in the Spread offense. Sleeper(3 star) who found his way to Mizzou from Florida, physical and very good foot work for his first season. Will be the anchor of the line by week 8, kid has.will become that good in the system. Not sure how he got away from the Florida schools, but lucky he came.

Golden Tate - The kid impressed me last year when he got limited chances, and he is turning into the deep threat that ND has lacked at WR since the mid 90's.

Raeshon McNeil - When Darren Walls left for the semester, it was unclear who would start opposite Terrail Lambert. McNeil has done a bang up job.

Kyle McCarthy - Hands down a better safety than Zibikowski. That kid is as sure of a tackler ND has had in decades. He actually wraps up and doesn't bite on the play fake. I love you Zibby, but this is how a SS plays.
