Ever heard of him? Great blues guitarist/singer/songwriter from the Looziana bayou (Houma). Well-known around NOLA. Friend o' mine turned me on to him last year. His pet cause is wetland conservation, 'specially around the Mississippi River delta. Hosts an annual event in Houma called "Voice of the Wetlands," which is essentially a free concert in the park with some top-notch musicians from the area (no shortage of 'em there). My friend introduced me to him at last year's VotW, and I've seen him perform a few times since then (Jazzfest, Bourbon Street's Preservation Hall), most recently this past Saturday night in Falls Church, VA. Skilled entertainer, mixing banter and stories into his set. Natalia Zukerman opened for him - excellent musician in her own right. Check him out:

Re: Tab Benoit
The first clip does not suck, good beat and all that. A little too much electric piano and high pitched lead guitar... unintelligible Cajun dialect lyrics but by the end I sorta' got "why are people like that".
Obviously a talented picker.
B minus.
