Why?

Iverson again? Why did an already shit franchise, on the road to a lottery pick, bring back a player that has the capability of improving this team marginally and thus decreasing their lottery balls?

You really have to ask?

Iverson is a Sixer legend...

Think "butts in the seats."

I would have laughed at almost any other team signing him -- but with Philly's current situation, it's a perfect fit (financially, anyway).

Because bankruptcy is looming for all but about 8 franchises in the NBA right now and keeping the franchise and league afloat is a little bit more fucking important than a couple of lottery balls at this point in time.

Philly sold out the building last night.

Your "why" question was just definitively answered.

Iverson’s return generated a short burst of excitement, but not wins. His box office appeal is already lukewarm with only 12,795 fans listed to watch a slumping Sixers team.

There were over 20K in attenance for his return and the paid attedance is back to pre-Iverson levels.
