Partisan politics aside
In an effort to 'reach across the aisle', I'd thought I'd try a conciliatory gesture towards the other side...
God love democracy. It's the worst form of government in the world, except for all the rest.
Election cycles come and go, up and down, like a rollercoaster.
I don't trust either party. They both need to be kept on a short leash to protect us from them. We need watchdogs for the watchdogs.

Re: Partisan politics aside
I voted for Melissa Rowan for DC State Board of Ed for Ward 6 because she stopped by my crib the other day. She was cute and 32. I let her give her platform and I told her I'd think about voting for her.
I also voted against the guy who wants to be DC Council Chairman (i.e. control of budget/purse strings) because he's currently being sued by credit card companies for $55k and is estimated to have $700k he in debt. Sorry, bro. Not a chance.

wow, this reaching across the aisle bit isn't so difficult.
Well, yeah it is, but Rack the Sam Clemons quote nonetheless.
Now, if we could only figure out how to vote out lawyers...

well mv, I knew it would eventually devolve into a mudslinging contest so I tried to start near the top and let it roll downhill from there.
Part of me wants to gloat, but I've outgrown the usefulness of that sentiment.
Sure as shit though Bri will be in here and say something to piss me off and then I might gloat.

The guy I voted against for DC Council Chairman has 92% of the vote so far. Looks like no one in DC cares about the guy controlling the money being sued for $55k in credit card debt. Dubfucks.

Nah, I won't say much. Other than to say that if you think all that Tea Party bullshit is going to come to pass, you're nuts.War Wagon wrote:Sure as shit though Bri will be in here and say something to piss me off and then I might gloat.
Truth be told, I only voted for three Democrats this year. After Schumer and Gillibrand co-sponsored S. 3804, they lost my vote. I'll be damned if this country turns into China. The Greens got my vote this year.

that wasn't quite as satisfying as 2008, now was it?BSmack wrote: Nah, I won't say much. Other than to say that if you think all that Tea Party bullshit is going to come to pass, you're nuts.
The Tea Party is but a manifestation of deep voter discontent, an outlet for the rage.
You were gloating 2 years ago, I told you to temper your expectations. But you were on a sugar high there for awhile.

Jeez, Boehner just melted down, sobbing and all choked up
That was embarrassing.
Dude...
I don't want you as House Speaker after that episode of weakness. Pelosi thinks you're gay.

You make it out like I have a dog in the fight. I supported my local Democratic Congresswoman. I even let them put her lawn sign in my yard. That's where my involvement in this ended.War Wagon wrote:that wasn't quite as satisfying as 2008, now was it?
Don't make me laugh. The Teabaggers got used like a two dollar whore. Oh sure, they'll get some mileage out of trying to force a House vote on repealing health care. But they'll never get it through the Senate. And the GOP House will still submit deficit laden budgets, just like they did when Bush was President. Nothing substantive will change. The Tea Party is but a manifestation of deep voter discontent, an outlet for the rage.
I'd say quite a bit got accomplished. Here's partial list. You were gloating 2 years ago, I told you to temper your expectations. But you were on a sugar high there for awhile.
Health Care reform, the stimulus bill, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, SCHIP expansion, Credit card reform, Student Loan reform, the Tobacco Control Act, the Serve America Act and allowing Stem cell research.
Not bad for 2 years and no GOP support and a filibuster a day in the Senate.
Hardly beaten down. Oh, and I voted for a Republican too. She was a former schoolmate running for County Court. I figured she won't do much harm there.BSmack all grown up now, the young idealism beaten down. Such is how conservatives always trump liberals at the voting booth.

What we need, gentlemen, is wall between church and state which is visible from outer space.
Instead we're seeing a scared and dangerously ignorant religious impetus--desperately clawing and hanging on to droning repeated mantras...
Do you really believe Orange Man is anything but a total corporate whore? Not that Pelosi isn't, but the GOP is so utterly fraudulent and hypocritical that anyone who thinks conditions will improve under this...shifted permanent stalemate..is clueless.

What rant? You faggots just got the dicks kicked out of your asses last night and there's no two ways about it.
Obluegum is through dealing. Get used to that. He had enough trouble even when his party controlled both chambers of Congress. He is completely fucked now. Welcome to gridlock, bitch.

I can't often agree with mvscal politically, but he's absolutely right, specifically about the gridlock. And six short sentences hardly constitutes a respectable rant.BSmack wrote:See below.mvscal wrote:What rant?

Americans may have fallen out of love with Barack Obama, but the president of the United States is still an object of affection for the Chinese, who have remodelled him as a blow-up sex doll.

How many stoners do you know that actually ever leave the house for anything?
Can't even begin to imagine what percentage of them are even registered to vote.
