The voice is David Ruffin, but Smokey wrote it. He was the lead songwriter at Motown for a long time.

thanks gents, I was thinking after 'Goodbye So Long' they switch gears and launch into a third refrain that isn't listed. I'm only guessing it's Robinson as he's black and a high tenor.

I saw Ike at the Blues Festival a few years ago-BTW.

Old fucker brought the house down (OK, it was outdoors, but same concept).

Before you kick off and rot in Tennessee, Sam, you should really come spend a 4th of July weekend (they draw it out to 4-5 days, depending on how the days line up) in Portland. Serious good time, and right up your alley.

Next year is the 25th anniversary, too. Not just blues anymore, everything from soul to R&B to zydeco (not sure why zydeco is big around here, but it has a following). Hell, the North Mississippi All Stars have played it more than once. 120,000 showed up for it last year (over 4 days), even though it was a weak lineup(IMO, although they still had Buddy Guy and Robert Cray, and there's always one person named Neville who shows up).
