Let's say that you are an artist. You create a painting, a song, a movie, whatever. That is yours and you rightfully expect to make a living from selling that product.

Now let's say that someone else makes a copy of your product. And then sells it, without giving you any money. Or they give it away for free. Come to my website and click this button and you can have jim's product for free!

Now imagine that thousands of websites doing that, giving away your product for free.

What's your solution?
The solution is to make your product BETTER and EASIER to consume than the copy. Which is why we now see the proliferation 3D movies, blu ray, streaming video, iTunes, high def audio, hi def radio, satellite radio...

Any solution that makes a bunch of kids downloading copies of files in their own homes to be criminals is by definition going to fail.

Not letting the entertainment industry control this issue would be a start.

I'm fully in favor of the owners of intellectual/artistic property's rights to the fruits of their labor enforced.

And if anyone thinks that putting Congress, or pretty much any authoritarian body in Screweyland in charge, they need their head examined.

I'd say about 2/3 of my old cassette collection (not including live shows) was material that was copped from albums my friends owned. Music sharing has been around since the 1970s, and the only impact it has had on the industry has been to increase market saturation/awareness of their product and to INCREASE overall sales.

Whats my solution? Stop being a liberal piece of shit criminal, and pay for your music and or movies.
YOU FUCKIN LOSER.

Anyone who downloads the newest speilberg or Lucas blockbuster BEFORE it even hits the theaters?
FUCK YOU and DIE. I hope the FBI comes to your home or job, and takes you away crying like a lil' cowardly bitch.

You know what one of the easiest ways to download music/movies is? Go to a public library with a laptop.

Dont get me wrong, I know how easy it is to get free stuff. All im saying is this, if you download the latest blockbuster before it even hits the theaters, or download the latest metallica or pearl jam cd before it hits the stores, and you dont pay a penny for it?

Then I dont care if David Caruso has you at gun-point, slowly removes his cool shades, and arrests your worthless piece of shit ass.

Any "artist" who finds that they're not able to earn a liveable wage should feel free to pick up a shovel.

Last I heard, we haven't run out of ditches that need digging.

I would contact my senators about this -- but they're the ones leading the charge against it. Wyden says he'll fillibuster PIPA if need be.

And Rep. Blumenauer is blacking out his website.

So where do you draw the line? You shut down every website that is capable of hosting pirated material? There is zero way to end online piracy unless you pull the plug on the entire interwebs.

You stupid fuck..seems to me it is the sharing of a private library of music and since no one asked for my credit card or I did not see or hear any advertising the last time I tuned in, it is probably all good, unless you plan to bounty hunt the copyright police on it.

JSC -- there's MUCH more sensible legislation proposed (OPEN Act) that doesn't put sites like T1B at risk of some music executive's whim.

PIPA and SOPA put privately owned DNS servers in the hands of the Justice Department (very China/Iran-like of them), where they have no business.

T1B Radio isn't legal.

But if the Deciders wanted to make it so, I imagine based on listenership, the stamp to mail ASCAP a check would cost more than the ASCAP fee.

It read as if you (one of the admins) might sometime decide to go rogue and close the board down.
And not only that, but it might not be able to be restored.

Then you stickied this - as if a political issue (and your view on it) is more important than the countless other issues and views that people have around here.

I don't care.
It was just some interesting theatrics on your part.

Why is it that every time someone replies to you with a sarcastic or snide remark, you post this same tired bullshit line above? The last time I checked, mocking/ridiculing/pointing out mistakes is what we do here. If you're getting sick of people bashing you, then stop providing the board with fodder to belittle you with.

And not to go all IKYABWAI on you... but I certainly hope your 2012 T1B board experience goes a heck of a lot better for you than it did in 2011. I am not sure if anyone tracks these things, but I am fairly certain you were a frontrunner for last year's Board Bitch.

Good luck and God bless, you flipping tard.
