You have to be about half crazy to fly a seaplane or a pontoon plane. Landing on water just adds a few more things that can go wrong on landing.

NO! Practice makes perfect. They have one of the best safety records. Besides, you can land in remote lakes and taxi right on shore. Unfortunately, if you don't have the turbo model, you are limited to low altitude operations if you want to carry a lot of weight.
