You don't like 'Thumpers', as you call them, as if they truly meant you harm. You don't have to listen to them, read them, or anything else. If they come to your door, you can slam it in their face like they were a vacuum cleaner salesman.

I think I know why most atheists despise 'Thumpers'. It's because deep down inside in places they don't like to visit, they're secretly afraid they might be right. And that frightens them, so they don't want to hear it. But they have heard it and then feel guilt, shame and remorse for having ignored the message.

But they can't escape it and the more vociferously they argue against that message, the more it offends them that they heard it in the 1st place. It's a vicious cycle, and the Thumpers won't STFU because they are only doing what their faith commands them do - to spread the message to the entire world, whether you like it or not.

Nope. Tolkein was one of the good Believers. He was much more about walking the walk than talking the talk. He didn't lord his beliefs over anyone. He didn't need to STFU.

Not a whole lotta atheists demand that their subjects go on Crusades to ensure that their faith will eradicate someone else's.
