Helluva nice hire by the Iggles. Sure beats going the Yet Another Retread route. Win or lose, at least with this one they're rolling the dice on the chance of becoming something special.
So does this mean Mike Bellotti will return to the Oregon sidelines?
I think Chip will have success in the NFL. You're already seeing a trend with offenses in Frisco, Seattle, and NE. Up tempo, option-read QB's that can throw the ball. I wouldn't sell Dogkillervick short just yet.
And that great windy sound you heard from the left coast was the PAC 12 sigh of relief.

I would. Other than perhaps Tim Tebow, Vick has always been the most wildly overrated guy in the league. He's never won anything, anywhere. He's Tony Romo minus the gaudy stats and lack of time on the Disabled List. Philly offering him that last monstrous contract was sheer lunacy.
Sure, they'll court others (some goofy state law, I think), but the job seems to be Helfrich's.
Bellotti isn't too highly thought of by the non-football masses these days, once they found out how much he gets from the budget-crippling state pension.
With the Richest Owner in Sports (Kelly's words), we'll get fucking Saban if we want. Hell, we'll get Elvis Fucking Presley if we want.
Peterson ain't sounding so bad, either. Imagine what that fusker could do with actual; resources. But I'm guessing they'll go with a Kelly desciple... Helfrich (who wasn't too cool until he came under Kelly... boy learned a thing or two).
Turns out Chipper went and hit the school up for a raise... $2 mil worth... wanted the same as Saban (has 4 less crystal trinkets than Saban).
Can't blame them for telling him to go fuck himself.
Dumb move, though. Over time, he would have eventually gotten that kind of money. As a stopgap, I'd be willing to bet Uncle Phil would have signed him to a fat product endorsement deal.
Could have stayed at Oregon forever, raking in very good money. Instead, he'll get a chunk more money for the 2-3 years before he flames out of the NFL.

Ego, pure and simple. Ego drives all manner of rash decisions.
You're right, he should have stayed at Oregon. He may prove us all wrong, but he had a sure thing in Eugene. The NFL will prove to be all-or-nothing for him, with 'nothing' being the more likely result.
