Reuters was even worse. They have since changed their headline and story. The original didn't mention that the guy was armed until the 5th paragraph, after calling it "similar to the Michael Brown incident".

So if a cop aims a gun at me and I am armed I get to shot them? You are dumb.

No doubt a gentle soul who was just trying to turn his life around and attend community college next semester before his life was ruthlessly snuffed out by a racist cop for no reason whatsoever.

In other words, the opposite of what Michael Brown chose to do.
So if a cop aims a gun at me I don't get to shoot but if I aim a gun at a cop they do get to shoot? That sounds way different that what you just said a couple if posts back. Are you just making this up as you go?

I had a client who ambushed a boat load of LAPD back in the 80's.He called in a fake burg and then let loose with rifle from a nearby roof. Winged a few and got 25 to life. I think I will pass.

A man has to know his limitations. In midget lawyer world, that is a home run.

Police said that an officer was conducting a routine check at the petrol station on Wednesday when he approached two men, one of whom pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officer.

Brian Shellman, a police spokesperson, said the officer then fired several shots, striking and fatally wounding the suspect.
Generally, the one who points the gun first has the tactical advantage and he who chooses to shoot first wins the battle, if they can hit the broad side of a public housing project. If a cop points a gun at you, and you think you can quick draw McGraw him, by all means give it a try.

If the suspect already had drawn and still got shot, something else is going on, but props to O' Malley for taking out the trash.

Oh, my bad. You are his appeal attorney right ??

Is he still doing time in the hole ?

Do you gauge your success on how long your guilty clients actually spend in the joint?

He plead so no appellate atty.
I was his atty for his parole hearing.
He is now walking the streets.
He owns a landscape company and has not reoffended.

He owns a landscape company under the table business employing illegal aliens and has not reoffended, at this point, but will likely in the near future.
The justice system and scum maggots like you and your guilty client are why people that commit attempt murder walk the streets.

You're correct that the one who draws first has the tactical advantage, and if they choose to shoot first they can win the battle. But that ability to hit the broad side of a public housing project is a big factor in actually winning the battle. Officers train & qualify on a regular basis, giving them the advantage of experience & muscle memory. The thug probably rarely, if ever, sees the inside of a range. And I can tell you that there's a world of difference in shooting at someone trying to do the same to you versus shooting at paper targets. That's where a lot of officers are able to take out the trash when being drawn on first.

Hands become paws at a certain heart rate. This applies to both cops and criminals, but police regularly train to offset the adrenaline rush and physiological effects of buck fever. Doesn't always pay off, but it definitely gives them a distinct advantage when they go weapons-free.

My hat goes off to that Austin, Texas cop who put that guy down last month shooting one handed while holding the reins of two patrol horses. That's some talented gunplay!
