Those that self destruct don't get much sympathy from me, but the ones who die young in tragic accidents do. SRV along with Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and others come to mind. Always makes you wonder what might have been.

I saw the before sober version live in 1987 and the after, live in 1989. Starlight theater, a fantastic outdoor venue.Roach wrote:I remember seeing him on the Tonight Show shortly before he died. Clear headed, said he was finally straight and the career was booming. Played a damn nice bit.
He was spectacular both times and I feel so very fortunate to have been there. Damn, I miss that guy.
I think that 2nd time, the Stray Cats warmed up... I should've showed up late. I could've done w/o that.
The first, I believe it was The Alman Brothers and that was well worth being on time for.

The traits that make some people so gifted and entertaining are sometimes the same traits that cause them to implode.Wolfman wrote:Those that self destruct don't get much sympathy from me
Sucks either way, but I certainly have sympathy for those battling addictions of any sort... you cranky old fart.

Well said Wags. Wolfie doesn't seem to have the capacity to relate or even understand how some of the most creative and brilliant minds are plagued by demons such as substance abuse and addictive behavior. Good people self destruct every day and it is tragic. Better to try to understand why than dismiss and shun.War Wagon wrote:The traits that make some people so gifted and entertaining are sometimes the same traits that cause them to implode.Wolfman wrote:Those that self destruct don't get much sympathy from me
