Replay overrule on a charging call with :36 left in the game?
LOL
Absolutely ludicrous.
2. J.R. Smith
Get your head in the game, assclown.
It's only the NBA finals.
Btw...
Why is traveling not called in the NBA??
Silly shit.

the NBA has been crap for years. the NFL is quickly following their footsteps. MLB is approaching the grey area.

No, it was a blocking foul--LeBron was moving in. But as for Smith, well look closely and you'll see he was immediately hounded by both Klay and Curry--there was no decent shot to be had, and it was going to OT regardless. In five.

Nonsense.
Smith lost his brain.
Look at the reaction of his teammates.
As for the blocking foul...
Amdad said it, sort of.
The NBA appears to want to follow the NFL's path with ridiculous replay usage.
Block, charge...
The absurdity is using replay at all in that situation.

FTFY.

From what I've seen, J.R. Smith has been nearly universally blistered by the media.
I've seldom seen anyone hammered so hard.
No lube.
Maybe he's been torched relentlessly because he failed to own it.
Claiming he knew the game was tied, etc.
I guess Bill Buckner and Chris Webber got lit up pretty good, but they were pre-social media.

I’d still put Jordan up as the best ever. Stats aside, MJ had a style which LBJ doesn’t— the shrug of the shoulders as he jogged back up,the court after scorching the opposition, as if to say, “I don’t know how I do it. Just luck, I guess.” The tongue sticking out as if he were out on the playground playing ball, Jordan looked more at ease even though he was unbelievably competitive.
This doesn’t anything away from Lebron. He’s incredible in his own right, but I don’t think he’s the best, IMHO.

Fact is as much as I liked watching MJ as a kid, LeBron is just better. LeBron is bigger, stronger, and given the evolution of humans 20 years later would just school what MJ did then. It sucks comparing different decades, but players today are just better in general.
Same as Shack would dominate Russel or Kareem.

LeBron has four years experience on MJ. He entered the NBA at 18. MJ entered at 22. He's a 33 year old with the experience of a 36 year old, plus he has the body of a 33 year old as opposed to a 36 year old.
But MJ was still better.

Wilt Chamberlain averaged 38 pts a game for his first 9 years in the league.
He led the league in scoring for his first 6 seasons.
He led the league in both rebounding and scoring for his first 4 seasons.
He averaged 50 pts a game one year.
45 was a bad night.
He averaged 23 rebounds a game for his career.
Nobody was going to bully him around.
I can not say that Jordan (or anyone else) was greater than he was.

I understand your point.
Roger Federer is clearly "better" than Rod Laver.
You can only realistically judge players based on how they did in their own era.
Sports and players change from era to era.
I rate Jordan higher than LeBron.
Better defender.
Greater scorer (led the league for a run of 10 out of 11 seasons).
Better FT shooter.
Better in crunch time.
Wanted it more.

LeBron can guard far more positions on the floor than MJ could. Imagine MJ guarding Shaq, Duncan, Robinson, Durant, etc. LeBron would do far better. Further LeBron is top 60 all time in rebound while MJ doesn’t make the top 125. Also MJ has more offensive rebounds than does LeBron leading one to believe that MJ put in far more effort on the offensive end trying to score than he did playing defense.
Yes MJ was a great scorer, but he was also a ball hog. LeBron is close to MJ in scoring but is so far beyond MJ in assists it isn’t even funny. LeBron will crack the top 10 of all time in assists early next year. MJ can’t be found in the top 40. But Pippen does make the top 40 of assists, yet none of LeBron’s Cavs teammates do. So LeBron does far more to get his teammates involved in the game.
Got nothing for you on FT.
Define crunch time? LeBron is pretty solid late in games. See game 1 for an example.
MJ wanted it more? Absolute donkey shit. You flat out made this up and can’t prove it for anything. However, if MJ wanted it so much why did he walk away from the game to play minor league baseball?

Jordan made the NBA all-defensive team 9x.
The guy was a killer on both ends of the court.
And no, LeBron is not very close to Jordan in scoring.
Jordan led the league in scoring 10x.
Lebron has led the league just once.
What LeBron has is sustained excellence.
Great longevity.

If Lebron wants it as much as Michael did, and he is a better player (according to you), why has he won only half as many NBA titles?

We can start with a supporting cast, then sprinkle in free agency which didn’t get going until after MJ was in the league, toss in coaching, and finish with all the other intangibles.

I'd say that is an advantage for Lebron, who has changed teams several times to increase his chances at a championship. MJ was a greater player because of his drive as pops pointed out. The greatest players make those around them better, like MJ & Magic did. Lebron changing teams so he can join one that is stacked is not a positive in this discussion, even now rumors swirl about where he will be playing next season. I do agree Lebron is a great player, he's just not the pinnacle of NBA greatness.

We all understand that players from different eras cannot be compared apples to apples due to any number of reasons and circumstances, but how about if we change the question just a bit and ask how would all these players from the past stack up against present day professionals if they were given the same training and medical/support staffing? In other words, who has the most sheer God given talent in any particular floor position?
I’d put my money on Bill Russell in that case.

So after his teams gutless "performance" in game 4 of the NBA Finals, LeBron Jayne shows up to the presser with a cast on his hand.
Now someone will knee-jerk misunderstand my take, so pay attention...
1. I don't doubt that his hand was dinged after game 1
2. It is tough to play bouncy ball when your hand is dinged
3. If he was a MAN and a REAL leader, he would have shown up for the presser with NO cast on his hand
Put the cast on after you leave the room.
L. Jayne was wise not to show that his hand was hurt for games 2, 3 and 4, but he BLEW IT by rolling in after it was all over and essentially yelling, "Hey look -- my hand was hurtin'!!!"
He should have not drawn any attention to it whatsoever.
Take your lumps, your ass was kicked, and see ya next fall.
Bye...

I still say if I was playing two on two hoops and could choose anyone in their prime it would be Wilt. In college he was routinely triple teamed. His best shot--fall away jumper.

Definitely the most dominant player ever in the NBA. The competition now is a lot different but still I’d probably go with Wilt.

After I missed the first couple of tosses my ankle was hurting.
If I had rolled up my pant leg you could have seen the brace I had on.

It is indeed a meltdown -- people who rarely watch golf, anddon't play the game are certainly melting down over this. Other people... not so much.

This will fall under 1.2 next year.
2019 Rule: Rule 1.2a will consolidate the expected standards of player conduct:
It will declare that players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by acting with integrity, showing consideration to others and taking good care of the course.
It will unequivocally state the Committee’s authority to disqualify a player for any serious misconduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.
In place of the unclear concept of “breach of etiquette”, it will use the more direct and stronger phrases “misconduct” and “serious misconduct.”
Rule 1.2b will also give the Committee authority to adopt its own Code of Conduct and to set penalties for its breach (see Explanation for Proposed Rule Change – Code of Player Conduct).
But hey, this isn't next year so rack Phildo for getting over.
If by getting over you mean T48 at +16

Russel would give Shaq a tough time. Kareem would sky hook him to death, but defensively would have trouble.

Russell played at 6'10" and 220 lbs. Shaq would whip him like a rented mule. If someone built the way Bill Russell was walked into an NBA team the first thing they would do is try to put some freaking meat on him.
Kareem would be a better match-up for sure. Although if Kareem came in the the league now, they slot him in as a four.

Not if they actually called charging like they did when Russell played. Russell seemed to do a fine job against Wilt (7' 1" and 275 lbs.)
