The Caps got it done! What a night!



I think there were a few key factors:

1. Ovechkin showed up and was clearly the best player on the team and in the playoffs. In years past he did not show up in the playoffs and that really hurts the team when your best player under performs. On the other hand, when your best player is playing out of his mind, it makes the 25 other guys better.

2. Speed is trendy in the new NHL but you still need big guys who can play physical hockey and get into the other teams' heads. After Game 2 the Caps were completely in the Knights' domes. They were frustrated that they couldn't skate around the Caps. Of course it helps that your big guys can score as well.

3. The Caps changed things up defensively after Game 1 when they looked like absolute shit. Whatever they did it worked because they completely dominated after Game 1.

3a. Holtby was the best goalie in the playoffs. The Save (TM) in Game 2 got the Caps over the hump.

What a performance! Barry Trotz is gonna get paid by someone, whether it's the Caps is a toss up. Remember Mike Keenan didn't return to the Rangers after 94.

So are you providing them a special favor? You know going down on each member and swallow? Just make sure your stomach is pumped afterwards just in case some of the members have STDs.

Hasn't DC historically been the best team during the season but always shits the bed in the playoffs?

I don't really know for sure, as I don't tend to follow professional sports in which one team plays more than twenty regular season games.

Not necessarily. Being down 2-0 isn't the same as being on the ropes.

Props to the Caps. They totally worked Vegas after game 2. Vegas had a bunch of bad puck luck and hit so many posts it was just amazing. Couple of those go in...

Anywho, hope the party in DC was EPCOT.

What the hell do we do now? College football is still 80 something days away, and NHL is 4 months away. Maybe my reading list get's knocked out.

I was in Jr High their inaugural season. Never been much of a hockey fan because I never played hockey, but I've been to a few Cap games and they were entertaining. Congrats Screwy and to the Capitals.

Experience got the Caps through. Early season, I thought Vegas would choke first round if they made it, but they didn't stop. Last lap and they got the frights. More fool me.

Congrats Screw. Now be a good chap and cheer for the Red Wings.
