The rules were that there were to be no "fact checks."

From this article, it seems that Vance won the debate by a slight margin, but Walz has gotten a more favorable polling boost.

For those who watched it, is that how you saw it?

CBS News said last week that moderators would not point out or correct inaccurate statements made by Vance or Walz, instead leaving it up to the candidates to fact-check their opponents.

I was about 500% more interested in the ballgame, and recorded the debate. But I’m thinking I might not get around to watching it. Pretty much a waste of time apparently, but you all have fun hashing it out over the next day or so.

Vance looked slick, but knocked himself out by not answering questions.

Especially the one as to whether Dump lost the 2020 election.

Very simply it would be better for the nation if candidates for POTUS & VPOTUS were fact-checked live. Most people were disgusted with how the convicted felon was able to blatantly lie w/o any push-back from the m0ds in the Biden-Dump debate.

Diego, if m0ds are "fact checking" in real time, it opens up a completely unmanageable can of worms.

it is not possible to fact check live because there can too much nuance and context involved in what a candidate might be saying.

If a candidate is lying and bullshitting on stage, it is up to the opponent to call it out -- and then it is up to the viewer to make his own determination as to what is happening.

The job of the m0d is to ask questions and then referee the proceedings to make sure the debate stays on track according to the predetermined rules.

Vance on the other hand is a smarmy Yale trained lawyer who has never held a real job in his life, lies as easily as he breathes (like Dump), is on the ticket for the benefit of crypto-fascist Peter Thiel and would sell his mother down the river to please Dump.

The one thing Dems screwed up was not training Walz for the gravity of the situation. This election isn't about policy (we hired 20,000 border patrol agents!), it's about defeating evil, fascist asswipes like Dump and Vance who lie to start racist pogroms against immigrants, who want to ban abortions and force women to die to save unviable pregnancies. To create nationwide pregnancy registries to track women and where they travel for their health care.
