Same rules as we had for the Kentucky Derby and last year. Just list your predicted finish of the top three horses. It will be assumed that all bets are $2, so that we will calculate the T1B Preakness winner with the posted results from the track.

The Preakness results will be added to the Derby results listed below, and then later to the Belmont results, to determine the overall winner of the T1B Triple Crown Challenge.

Kluba $17.96
HighPlainsGrifter $17.96
Roach $11.20
The Seer $8.38
Roux $5.58
Smackie Chan $4.94
Peter Duncan $3.70
SFP $0.00
Steve Jobs $0.00
bungle clone $0.00
Biggie $0.00
Rootbeer $0.00

Fines for using the crop 8 times?

Winner sitting out the Preakness?

Is thoroughbred racing trying to outdo MLB and NFL in the faggotry Olympics?

The crop is used by English riders like my daughter to tell her horse, "pay attention asshole," she could hit her horse for 24 hours straight with the damn thing and not hurt it. I imagine a jockey is doing the same thing, he's pushed the "gotta go" button and the horse isn't responding to his liking the crop gets the horse's attention-can't hurt him. Hell, I'm sure most of you have been slapped by your boyfriend's crop prior to being mounted and are no worse for wear-from the crop anyway.

Pick whoever you want.

This is not like the Masters contest where golfers could only get picked once.

Pick the horses in the order you predict them to finish, even if someone else has already done so.

Seer understood the rules, he just didn't want the first two stable selections to be identical.

Thanks to all who played. The results are official.

But it is very possible that I've made a mistake somewhere in all these numbers, so please let me know if you see a mistake and it will be corrected.

Congrats to The Seer, Kluba, Rootbeer, and me for coming in first place in the Preakness.

Props to Kluba, HighPlainsGrifter, and The Seer for their current 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place standings in the T1B Triple Crown Challenge.

But there is still one more race to go..............

Preakness results:

Tie for 1st place
The Seer $4.00
Kluba $4.00
Rootbeer $4.00
Roux $4.00

Tie for 5th place
88BuckeyeGrad $2.80
Smackie Chan $2.80

7th place
Biggie $2.40

=======================
Here are the current standings for the T1B Triple Crown Challenge, which combines the winnings from the three races for an overall winner. When you see $⁰⁰⁰ that means the person did not participate in that race. Of course, the first number is the winnings from the Kentucky Derby and the second number is the winnings from the Preakness.

(1) Kluba $17.96 + $4.00 = $21.96

(2) HighPlainsGrifter $17.96 +$0.00 = $17.96

(3) The Seer $8.38 + $4.00 = $12.38

(4) Roach $11.20 + $0.00 = $11.20

(5) Roux $5.58 + $4.00 = $9.58

(6) Smackie Chan $4.94 +$2.80 = $7.74

(7) Rootbeer $0.00 + $4.00 = $4.00

(8) Peter Duncan $3.70 + $0.00 = $3.70

(9) 88BuckeyeGrad $⁰⁰⁰ + $2.80 = 2.80

(10) Biggie $0.00 + $2.40 = $2.40

(11) Steve Jobs $0.00 + $0.00 = $0.00

(11) Wolfman $⁰⁰⁰ + $0.00 = $0.00

(11) Diego in Seattle $⁰⁰⁰ + $0.00 = $0.00

(11) Peter Duncan $⁰⁰⁰ + $0.00 = $0.00

(11) bungle clone $0.00 + $⁰⁰⁰ = $0.00

(11) SFP $0.00 + $⁰⁰⁰ = $0.00

I had to interpret that "Sandman by a nose" meant that you were predicting Sandman to come in 1st place.

When you bet on a horse to win, but he comes in 3rd place, you don't win anything.

On the other hand, when you bet on a horse to come in 3rd and he wins, then you get the third place money from the winning line.

As an example of that in this race, see Biggie, who picked Journalism to show. Since Journalism won, Biggie won Journalism's 3rd place winnings, $2.40.

Roux rules...he created the 3Crown stakes. But another option for horse-sense would be to calculate based on a $2.00 across bet.

I'm open to that, just not retroactively.

My gut says to stay with the current rule for the Belmont, but if the group wants to have 3 across the board bets starting then, I'll do it.

To be clear, with the curent rule, it is like you are betting a total of $6: $2.00 on a horse to win, $2.00 on another horse to place, and $2.00 on a different horse to show.

What Seer is talking about is an across the board bet, where you are betting a total of $18: each horse is bet to win, place, and show. So if any of your horses wins, you then score with the win, place and show payouts. If your horse finishes second, then you score with the pace and show payouts, and if your horse finishes third, then you score with the show payout. With such a rule, Wolfman, Seer, Rootbeer, Diego, and HPG would have scored an additional $3.60.

The NFL, NBA, MLB, and NCAA have all changed their rules to result in more scoring, and what Seer is suggesting would do the same to this little contest. Please comment if you have thoughts on this one way or another.
