If you think the Lions got jobbed. Help out a bit.

Post by MSUFAN »

Take a few minutes tommorrow at work to type a letter and mail it to the NFL Offices concerning that bogus TD reversal against Detroit in the loss to Tampa Bay. The Lions #81, Pollard caught that ball inbounds, and the ON FIELD CALL was a touchdown with only :15 sec. to go!

Detroit would have been ahead by three with Tampas ball less than :10 seconds, no doubt.

The call was actually REVERSED by the field official!
And all ESPN replays showed in clear freeze frames that Pollard's legs were still inbounds as BOTH his hands were touching the ball.

Tell the head of officials what you thought.

(Ps - They don't allow E-Mails. I tried to find a link for 10 min. There are none. For obvious reasons, too)

The Lions definitely got fucked, however I don't really care. Good luck with that letter though. But I do not think it will make a difference. Now if you will excuse me I have to get back to that riveting SF/AZ game.

Actually I've been saying it since Franco ran free on December 23, 1972.

But seriously.......

The league is not nearly as compelling as it once was.

The officiating and the league's blatent anti-Raider agenda is only part of that equation.

Can't predict when I'll say enough is enough, but it's trending that direction, fo sho.

I do agree that some teams are "Type cast" as penalty makers and generates and it sticks with people. If you want to break down all the videos of games you will find most plays involve a penalty on any given team. I can remember man times with Moss and Carter how people claimed they were pushing off and then they started getting flagged for it, while others who did the exact same thing didn't get the flag. Look at Ahmed Carroll of the Packers now. This kid is getting flagged for holding a receiver left and right. Is he doing it? Sure, but what DB isn't to some extent? I played CB and the rules now are total bullshit against DBs.

I was there......his KNEE was clearly OOB when he caught the ball. It wasn't even close. First of all, to reverse an ONFIELD call you have to have indisputable proof.......having your body HALF way out of bounds makes it pretty easy. Hence, the reversal.

Paul, I'll be classy about this.....your team blows again. Please leave the Bucs alone while we CONTEND. It was an easy call. Without flaming, go away. Bang on your inept coaching staff. Bang on anyone but the Bucs. They are better than the chefs. They are 4-0. You are not. Seriously, cry somewhere else. Thanks. Have a donut on me.

That call was bullshit. There was not enough to overturn the call on the field. If they had called the play ob on the field, then I would say there was not enough visual evidence in that case either. It was just that close and should have been left to the official who was 3 feet away and staring at the sideline. He made the call and it should have stood.

Don't you think the people watching it on TV with the benfit of a closeup would know better than someon drunk in the stands :D? There is no way it should have been reversed on the fiedl.. let the booth make the review.... I think he was in- but not much we can do now..

Lets wait and see what happens when Tampa has to face a real team and we'll see if that offense is for real. Get a decent secondary that can single cover your recievers and blitz the hell out of Griese- and the offense will crumble. Your D still looks good- but they still haven't faced any high powered offenses... (Minnesota, Buffalo, Green Bay & Detorit  )But looking at your schedule- only Carolina and New England are the only decent offenses you face all year. No real tests for your defense until those games IMO
Yeah fuckers.... I'm back

Doubt it would have mattered either, Red, but DAMN, that call was truly surreal.

Guess the defender's contact with Carr's arm magically slung-shot that ball forward as Carr's arm was moving......uhh......backward...??? ?

Bwahahahahahaha!!!

Oooooh, we got a bad call. I'm so mad I'm gonna write a letter.

Every team throughout the years has bad calls, important calls go against them. Maybe you should write a letter to the Lions about Matt Millen's incompetence, instead.

Pathetic whining.

The offense line is weak and teams are putting 8 and 9 in the box on most plays to take the run away and are forcing Harrington to beat them. If you have Jones right now, trade him.

He'll end up with 1000 yards in the end but with games against Baltimore, Carolina and Chicago coming up...it will be tough sledding for KJ.

If you've got a decent #2 option, play them for a few weeks until Jones breaks out. It'll be a couple weeks until goes off. His touchdown yesterday was beautiful...he's running hard but he's not getting the touches and the line is getting outmanned.

Bengals D is no cakewalk this year and their offense is bad news for all opposing running backs.

A call on the field may only be overturned if there is INDISPUTABLE VISION EVIDENCE showing the
call to be wrong.

Such INDISPUTABLE evidence is NOT present in this case.

Call on the field should have been honored.

Thing about it is, that play brings up an interesting question. Pollard's ass was in bounds, as were his feet it appeared, but his knee slid out of bounds before he had total control and possessed the ball. So is a knee more important than an ass and 2 feet if the knee is out of bounds? :?

Yeah- but the difference the Eagles and the other teams the Bucs have faced this year is that we have an offense that can move the ball and a Defense that can get to your statue of a QB and cover you mediocre receivers

Guys....its this simple. He did not catch the ball with his hands....instead he caught it against his body. He did not have control(the ball at rest, secured) until his knee was out of bounds. It was a fantastic call. Bunch of babies in here.

Trix,

Read Poptarts post. There is no way that there was enough evidence to OVERTURN the call. If it was called incomplete on the field the same would be true. It was just too close to OVERTURN.

Now gofuckyourself.
