There is a lot more to it than just "checking it out properly." It would have to be extensively refitted for service. Communications, ECM etc. Assuming, of course, that it even happens at all. It could very easily be Trump giving Boeing a richly deserved kick in the dick with side dose of watching morons like Roux and Mikey shit themselves...again.Sudden Sam wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 7:07 pmThe prez is like a little kid. You think if somehow the Qatari AF1 kills POTUS that Qatar doesn't know they'll end disappearing in a mushroom cloud?
If we're not careful, we'll have peace breaking out over, you'd think lefties would be applauding the end of the military industrial complex and the end of Americans dying for Middle Eastern oil.

Today? I guess I'd have to check some stock prices.
But yesterday -- I paid more for something, although admittedly I don't know exactly what. One of my daughters is getting married later this year, and she and my wife were talking about how it was more expensive due to the tarriffs. So I paid more for something that will be used in her wedding or maybe the reception.

Don't listen to Powell. He's a Biden shill.
HPG thinks that rising prices doesn't equal inflation. He apparently can't tell us what inflation actually is.

Re: Trump/GOP bullshit
Inflation is the increase or decrease of prices averaged over time in an economy. The rate of inflation is determined by the availability of currency in a system as compared to the availability of goods for purchase. The Federal Reserve's job is to control inflation by injecting or remove currency from the system via setting the prime interest rate. A higher interest rate removes currency from the system. A lower interest rate injects currency into the system. When inflation rises above desired rates, it is due to an excess of currency.
Corporations or individuals cannot affect inflation because they do not set the availability of currency in a system.

Do you realize that the fact that inflation exists (where peoples' buying power decreases) is not the same thing as the "rate of inflation" as determined by some (according to you and your ilk) discredited government bureau?
Your are dismissed from this discussion.
Re: Trump/GOP bullshit
Funny how six months ago the prices of eggs and gasoline together defined inflation. Now it depends only on the availability of currency.

So, rising prices due to newly applied tariffs, without concomitant across the board wage increases, would not be inflation?
You and Sven Gullible should get together compare Economics degrees. Then show me the work you used to determine that there is no inflation today.

You have time to search for youtube clips. Should have plenty of time to find an HPG post claiming there is no inflation. Easy, peasy. Go find it.
Re: Trump/GOP bullshit

With all other factors held constant, any price increase would be inflationary.

Re: Trump/GOP bullshit
No need to get technical or to over simplify. Somehow you've managed to do both in a single post. Outstanding.
Inflation is the tension between the ability to buy (currency in the system) and goods for sale (supply.) Inflation will increase because of a product shortage or in response to abundant currency. The Fed's inflation target has been ~2% for as long as I can remember but they throw that rule into the wood chipper on occasion. WWII was one such instance. The 2008 housing crisis and bailouts were another. Covid under Trump and then Biden were a big one. Inflation is what it is because of the Fed. Managing inflation is the Fed's primary role but they abandon that mandate when the political winds blow just right.
Re: Trump/GOP bullshit
I’m still not clear on what point you’re trying to make here.
Or is it that price increases planned by Walmart to compensate for tariff charges have no bearing on inflation?
Something else maybe? Please straighten me out.
Because 99.9% of people, right or wrong, would consider widespread price increases happening all at once because of tariffs, to be indicative of inflation.
Is it that you were able to look up the technical definition of “inflation” and how it’s calculated?HighPlainsGrifter wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 5:23 pm Mislabeling a price increase as inflation is moronic, even for you lifelong morons.

The MAGA spin artists are fighting a losing battle with this one, Mikey.
If a consumer goes to buy something and pays more for the item(s) than he did previously, the consumer considers it inflation.
Period. The end.
Good night. Now.

I personally appreciate price increases. So does my house. When there was a lot of cheap money in the market, my house was cocky as hell. Felt like a million bucks. Now that there is a tightening in the money supply, my house isn’t talking as much shit about its value. Inflation?
