Think about the number of pardons…unreal.

This man was absolutely the worst of the worst. We were deceived, misled, lied to on a daily basis by the Biden administration.

From May 18

@newtgingrich
The scale of corruption and manipulation in the Biden Presidency will dwarf any previous presidency. This is not about Biden. He clearly had no idea how he was Being manipulated.
Pew Research reported “on Jan. 17 alone, he granted 2,490 commutations, more in a single day than any prior chief executive had granted over their entire presidency.” No one believes Biden decided on 2,490 cases. The question is who did decide and why did they decide. You can go through case after case and wind up asking who were the real presidents in fact behind the cognitively impaired puppet pretending to be president?

Just a little bit of lying going on in that admin. Biden's obvious mental issue, now Biden's (should've been) obvious stage 4 cancer that apparently the WH Dr didn't have the time or need to test for, and the greatest hits of the past including Russiagate, fine people on both sides, COVID origins, 2020 most secure election of all time, border secure, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc....running out of ink here...etc. etc. etc......

Billy is on my list for this year.

Going to see Tedeschi Trucks Friday night at the Beacon theater.

BTW, I hope you threw your chardonnay at that douche, stand if everyone is standing, otherwise sit your ass down.
He's really a phenomenal performer. I've been waiting for a couple of years for a good chance to see him, and he did not disappoint. Funny thing is that he was the third billed performer at the "Outlaw Music Festival" with Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan. Sierra Hull, a great bluegrass mandolin player preceded Billy Strings, and joined his band for a few songs near the end of his set. I think a lot of the crowd was there mainly for Billy. I saw the same show at the same place last year, but #3 was John Mellencamp. I enjoyed that show but would not have gone back except for Billy. The venue (North Island Federal Credit Union Amphitheater - owned and operated by LiveNation) is a logistical fiasco. It took us about two and a half hours to get there (63 miles) mostly due to the horrible traffic once you get to the southern part of San Diego (this is near the border). But the traffic management getting and, even worse, getting out, is just horrible. The place holds about 20,000 with basically one way in and one way out. Every time I go down there (I've been maybe five times in the past 10 years) I promise myself that I will never go back. The problem is that they do have some good shows. I'd go back for Billy Strings.

We went to see George Benson on Sunday night at the Pechanga Casino Theater. A 1200 seat showroom 20 mile drive from here. Park in the casino parking structure, walk in before the show and basically no traffic getting out. Home in time for a late dinner. Benson is 82 years old and doesn't do anything newer than about 1980 but damn, he can still bring it. Especially the vocals. The voice is a bit deeper and the guitar isn't quite as fluid as it was 30 years ago but he and his band put on a really great show - had a majority of the people dancing in their seats by the end. He still does the scat vocals over some guitar solos with great aplomb.

One thing that pisses me off about music shows these days it that they don't keep to the starting times. The George Benson show was scheduled for 7:30 pm. We made sure we were there in time to park and get into the theater by about 7:20 and it was only about 25% full. People kept walking in and the show didn't actually start until almost 8:00. Even then there were people walking in after the lights went down. So how the fuck are you supposed to know when you actually have to get there? We have season tickets for the LA Opera. It's a 104 mile drive but I can get there in well less than two hours. We go to the Sunday matinees for five shows a year, and they start at 2:00 pm. The lights go down at 2:00 sharp and if you're not in your seat you won't get in until intermission, if there is one.

Tedeschi and Trucks put on a great show, BTW. I've seen them maybe four or five times, but not in the past ten years. They were always great performances. Enjoy.

Besides an opera in June, our next show is Alison Krauss and Union Station in July.

It's OK once you're inside. But logistically it's a mess.

First I've heard of Billy Strings. Based on Mikey's post, I thought I'd give a listen to a selection, Cocaine Blues.

Not my thing at all. Sounds like bluegrass or some such. No thanks.

But, as was indicated to me by a near and dear deceased relative once, to paraphrase:

"you are not allowed to criticize any music, any musical taste, because the retarded sh*t you listen to has rotted your pea-brain and made you a literal imbecile."

I always say, to each their own. I've always been pretty eclectic. "Discovered" bluegrass about 25 years ago, and some of the greatest instrumental musicians out there are playing bluegrass. So far this year we've been to see several concerts of chamber music both baroque and classical, jazz, bluegrass (which can be very close to jazz) and rock. Oh yeah, and a few operas. Back in the day I was a Deadhead but I was also listening to Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Yes, Weather Report, John Lee Hooker, etc., etc. My budget for album purchases got kind of out of hand sometimes. Not much into metal, punk, hip hop, or circus music, but that's just me.

Another DEI hire proved incompetent. Except for social media as Sam points out.

"CEMA staff, including Russell, were at an offsite workshop. When a tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service, Russell or other CEMA staff could not activate the siren. "

Too busy fucking around instead of focus on job. Would love to see the workshop agenda and location. Let's see a big storm is possible, let's all go hole up somewhere with no access to response methods.

Good riddance

Sam, you are deliberately trolling to see a fight between me and Phibes. It is a hot-button issue that we have gone the rounds on and you just want to light the match and watch the carnage. For that, I will crush you with the ultimate smack weapon, a Shrubberism from ye olde days:

you ASS.

I will not be swayed: the 28th amendment guarantees the right to own and bear tornadoes. Phibes is a Canadian from Canada, so he doesn't know aboot things like laws, because they don't have any there.

Anyway, you watch, we will legalize tornado ownership for people as young as 5.

So chew on that, you ASS.

IIRC the workshop was within a mile…maybe a half mile. She obviously couldn’t drag her fat ass that far to save lives.

Note: Sarah Russell was promoted to Commissioner of the City Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) in May 2021.

I feel your pain Roach. Or at least I used to.

You alll are gonna accuse me of selling out to the liberal Commifornia climate wokeness, but I’ve switched over completely to battery powered tools and will never have to deal with that shit again.

Mower
Weed whacker
Chain saw
Pole saw
Light and heavy duty hedge trimmers
Leaf blower

They’re all Makita and use the same 16V battery system. Drill motor, impact driver and angle grinder also use the same batteries. And Mrs Mikey’s cordless vacuum.

The chain saw is a little wimpy but everything else works as well or better than their gas alternatives, all of which I’ve owned in the past. Especially the weed whacker, which seems spin a lot faster than any others I’ve owned. The mower is a self driven push mower that takes four 16V batteries, but uses two at a time, then you just throw a switch. It lasts about 30 to 40 minutes total, just long enough to charge the four replacements in two dual chargers. I have about a dozen of the batteries so I can use whatever I need and never run out.

No gas, no two cycle oil, no spark plugs or air filters. It’s like freedom.

I get that. But I also need to burn the calories. And I figure the day I can’t take care of my own yard will be the day I sell the house and move into a 55 and older “active adults” community, and commence with dyin’.

Oh yeah, I don’t actually have a lawn. The mower is for weeds and gets used less than ten times a year. Lawns are for sissies. And dogs.

I did hire a pool service last year.

I agree gas powered tools generally suck. It is so sweet not to get permeated with exhaust and not worry about spills. And fucking with government mandated anti spill devices.

Almost all of my gear is battery powered now. Trimmer, blower, circular saw, reciprocating saw (killer tool), and drill motor, run on common battery system. Kobalt from Lowes. Going on the 4th year, I got extra batteries and take care to rotate them. Separate battery chain saw, and a smaller one for pole work.

The mower is also battery a Ryobi 40v Whisper. I mow about 5,000 ft2 and it breezes through on a half battery charge.

I keep an AC generator (6kvm) in the garage for portable and emergency use. It is dual fuel gasoline and propane, I only use propane.

The gas goes in a Yardmax 170cc walk along weed trimmer. I have a 1/2 acre wild area and for years have tried to keep it weed free. BS now I just mow everything low and the wild grass is taking over. It looks well kept and the battery powered trimmers are just too weak. The Yardmax is like godzilla and king kong on meth! Someday maybe I'll get a riding system.

About 1/3 of my acre is wild "grass" and I keep it under control with the mower, and the weed eater where the mower can't go. One thing that's impossible to control is black mustard, which covers the hills around here with yellow flowers that everybody (well a lot of folks) think are beautiful. They put pictures of it on their FB pages. But it's totally invasive and pushes out everything else, and becomes a huge fire hazard by early summer. I got to the point where I fill up a five gallon backpack sprayer with Roundup a couple of times and selectively spray the mustard. Two treatments every spring. I have it about 90% eradicated in our yard but it will keep coming back from surrounding areas if I don't stay on top of it.

I have an electric pressure washer, chipper shredder and demolition hammer but they're all corded. The chipper shredder will trip a 15 amp breaker so I have to use the one 20 that I have outside.

Too busy fucking around instead of focus on job. Would love to see the workshop agenda and location. Let's see a big storm is possible, let's all go hole up somewhere with no access to response methods.

The "workshop" was four blocks away from the office. Evidently, it was too much trouble to waddle back and press a button.
