I can't disagree with much of what you posted Choads, and I share many of the same concerns. However I will take exception to your take on Eddie Kennison not being a #1 receiver. He's been the most consistent performer on offense so far and is putting up some really nice numbers. I don't know how much more you expect from him before you'd classify him a top notch receiver, but he's darn sure the best this squad has.

There are "potentially huge problems," with every team. As of right now, I dont see any real huge problems, except for one. The Chiefs just are an average football team right now. Nothing more, nothing less.

They looked great, and pretty damned good against NYJ and Oak, both 1-3 teams, that will draft top 10 next year. No way, are the Chiefs as good as they looked against NY and Oak, but thankfully the schedule has a few more teams of that calibur on the schedule.

Chiefs looked horrible at Den, and choked away a sure win, with poor play and poor coaching in the 2nd half against Philly, both 3-1 teams. Philly is a lock for the playoffs, and a legit Superbowl contender. Denver at this point, definately has the looks of a playoff team, minus the opener at Miami. No way are the Chiefs are as bad as they looked against Den and Philly, however, there are a few more teams of THAT calibur on the schedule.

Just taking a peek at the remaining schedule ... :

Wash
@Mia
@SD
Oak
@Buf
@Hou
NE
Den
@Dal
@NYG
SD
Cin

... I see the possibility of "potentially huge problems," getting much worse. RIGHT NOW, at best, I see the Chiefs finishing 10-6, but still with the possibilty of missing the playoffs all together. At worst ..... 4-12, 5-13? :shock:

Chiefs need to use the bye, and get their shit together. We all know this year is pretty much it for this group, and if they dont, they had better figure it out in the next week.

Not a bad FA pick up for starters.

-----------------

From all I read today, the coaching staff fucked this team up yesterday.
I've got confidence they'll straighten this shit out.

You may have forgotten we're the # 1 offense in the NFL over the last 3 years.

Like I wrote in another thread, If you'd have told me at the start of the season we'd be 2-2 without Roaf and Warfield, I'd have said "Hell, Yea"

Now, the fickle faithful are ready to bury the season beacuse they choked a home game?

Gimme a fuckin break.

If they come out against Washington and look like shit, then I'll worry.

For now, just chill out and realize the season's a marathon, not a 4 game sprint.

What would you have done last off season?

Throw big $$$ at Moose Muhammed rather than Kendrell Bell, Surtain or Knight?

Dude, we were the # 2 offense last season.

You put bandages were the bleeding is.

I would have managed the guys that clearly didn't perform much better by showing them the door. You can't tell me the money we were paying someone like Sean Barber, Reggie Bartee, Dexter McCleon and Vonnie Holliday paid off. I
Reggie Bartee?

William Bartee was a draft pick. Holliday was a bust. Barber has been hurt and McCleon has been up and down as a nickle back now forced to start. Point is, nobody bitched when we signed 'em. When we signed 'em it's the fans going "yea, damn..... Sean Barber was the top rated LB available".

Point is, not many FA ever do better with their new team, than their old ones. Aside from Priest, I can't think of any...... but I can think of a shitload that did much worse. Remember, this is free agents were talking about and not trades. Think the Jets pass D is better with a hobbling Lawyer Malloy? How bout the Vikes with Fred Smoot?

The real problem in guessing wrong is you still have to pro-rate that signing bonus and that's even tougher when you want to cut them, beacuse you eat that full hit that season.

If you wanna point out a huge deficiency in the Chiefs, point no further than the draft. That's where the real fuck ups have occurred and where we've missed out on some dudes that could have really helped at WR.

Just stay cool, there's only one dominant looking team I've seen play so far this season, and they seem to have had a few post season issues.

Hey, Scott,

I did not read through all of the above, and I have not analyzed all the stats, but I can think of one team that is probably at the top of the NFL in scoring.

Eddie Kennison is on pace for 1400 receiving yards this season. The benchmark for a solid WR is amassing 1000 per year, so yeah, I'd say he's close to being a Pro Bowl candidate, especially if he can score more TD's. Not bad, considering we picked him up on the cheap to begin with
Wrong decisions at the wrong time about the wrong guys.
Yeah, hindsight is always 20/20, ain't it? I suppose if YOU were in charge, we'd have Pro Bowl players at every position on both offense and defense...salary cap be damned.

The Chiefs played a zone defense a great portion of the game. Don't think Surtain is responsible for all 11. McNabb had all day to throw and the WR's had plenty of time to find the hole in the zone. Chalk most of those receptions up to the D-line getting no pressure on the QB.

I'm not questioning the defense or lack of the chiefs played.. I question Paul saying TO was knocked down at the LOS at least 3 times by Surtain. If it was Freddie Mitchell or even Greg Lewis I might believe it.. but not TO.

McCardell is leading the league in touchdown receptions, so you're reaching to put Kennison in his class.
It's only week 4. Kennison and McCardell will have very similar stats at the end of the year imo.

Ok but your post sounded like you were holding Surtain responsible for TO's 11 receptions. I didn't notice Surtain knocking TO on his ass at any point but that's not to say it didn't happen. Bottom line is TO molested the Chiefs defense. Nothing more, nothing less.

McCardell already has five TDs. which is 3 more than the entire Chiefs squad. May wanna back away from this one Nix, or might I suggest an ejection right about now. :oops:

In that same breath, said sideline reporter (Bob Gretz) also said that the referees could have easily called it holding, and Len Dawson, from the booth, was surprised that it wasn't called holding.

The Charger's offense has been rolling and the Chief's hasn't. Regardless, the Charger's GROUP of WRs are not that much better than the Chiefs. I think it's pretty close.

4 of McCardell's td's came against the 22nd and 31st ranked pass defenses. The Chargers are yet to play a top 15 pass defense. It doesn't matter though. It's all opinion and your opinion sucks in my opinion. :lol:

Oh.....OK.

I guess I can understand how they just forgot about the guy who caught 102 passes last year. I'm sure defenses aren't doing anything special to take him out of the game or anything.

:meds:
They are doing the same shit they've been doing his whole career. If they are doing anything more than someone should be wide fucking open every time he runs a route.

I know one thing that has to change. They aren't allowing Green to audible at the line of scrimmage. This has to change NOW! Complete bullshit. Vermiel is really stinking it up coaching wise so far this season.

Bullshit.

Green can audible. Green has called audibles at the line. He's just not Peyton Manning, in that Green's audibles only change who the hot receiver is on the play, or switch off to a draw play. He doesn't have command of the offense like Manning does, where Manning (and the rest of his receivers) has the knowledge to change the play, the routes that are run, the formation, etc. Even Green has admitted that.

You are correct. I had heard something on the radio saying he's wasn't allowed to audible at all. On the way home I heard Adam Tiecher set the record straight. I was misinformed. :x
