We all play in the same system. I'd never bitch if I got left out of the title game if I was undefeated. I wouldn't bitch about the voters or the media hypocrisy. I'd only bitch that, yeah, we need a playoff. I feel that now though.

He's right though about ESPN and their "analysts". Kinda the same philosophy with teachers.

As much time I was watch ESPN per week, I somewhat agree w/ him. They have 3 sets of studio guys who dont bring much credibility to the table. I think Herbstreit is awesome at what he does but I think that Corso is there only for shock value and that he is only right on his predictions 50% of the time. Mark May sucks. Lou Holtz talk like he is on Cialis. ESPN does have a lot of power when it comes to the media, but they big bucks and they showcase a lot of the game as well.

For the most part, it's true.

If you have four teams undefeated and teams A and B start 1 and 2 or even just in the top 5 and the other 2 start out maybe 15th and 18th respectively.....there is NO WAY to get into the title game. The system is completely fucked.

I would assume after a second straight year an undefeated SEC team is left watching; the powers at be will start to dismantle. I actually heard on the radio that behind the scenes the SEC is wanting to blow it up. WHat to replace it with? Not sure.

Dude has a right to be pissed, his team went undefeated in the SEC and got NOTHING. Right now it looks like the same could easily happen to VT, GA, or Bama and he is making his feelings known. Somehow I doubt USC fans would consider it whining if the shoe was on the other foot.

Assume it is entirely factual that she is a kunt. On that basis, is it acceptable to tell him that she's a kunt?

Or, do let it go because it's a foregone conclusion that the girl is gonna marry your buddy and learn to live with it?

While true that Tubby's meltdown was littered with factual statements, and struck a chord with me personally on the idiots at ESPN, it was inappropriate.

It may feel good to the fans and players that he said this, but in the long run it will do more damage than good. This is just an extension of the whining that was done a year ago, for right or wrong, and it will give him a negative tag in the media. He essentially told the media to fuck off in that rant. The media doesn't like to be told that.

If I was the AD at Auburn, I don't think I'd be too thrilled with his comments. There is a better way to go about this. Probably starts with not scheduling D II directionals.

You won't see the quotes on ESPN and you can expect it to affect their coverage of Auburn going forward.

These kinds of statements probably should have come from the SEC at the top, not from an individual program or coach. There again, a catch 22 because ESPN has a contract with the SEC.

) from a few years ago. How mahy games did they win by 5 or less?

By virtue of their early preaseason ranking, their winning streak kept them in play all the way to a BCS title game.

I've always said that the best way to fix college football isn't to do a playoff. That would remove too much from what makes the game so great. Instead. preseason rankings should be abolished by the AP and the Coaches until we're 3-5 games into the season.

Probably hurts my team this season if that happens, but it's the right way to handle this. Auburn got burned last year because they started too low and scheduled teams that weren't compelling enough to warrant huge moves upward.

That's how I see it. BTW, I still think the BCS is bullshit. You can't base National Champions year after year on a system that continues to change.

Bad example. OSU started 2002 ranked 12th and they still made it to the Fiesta Bowl. Not exactly the same as a current-season Texas or USC, who both were in the Top 5 before a game was even played.

And BTW, Ohio State won 7 games by a touchdown or less that year.

My bad if they were 12th, but it's certainly true that the teams with the most preseason hype are the ones with the best chances.

When did tOSU move up? I vaguely remember that they were sitting at the top for a period fo time when it seemed, based on margin of victory, that many expected them to get passed up.

Jimmy-- I think you're thinking of the '03 season, the year after OSU won the NC. They were preseason #3 or #4, and that's where the argument between you and us Buckeye fans initially ensued.

You argued that their ranking was based strictly on prior season's result, and guys like me & _sc were saying it was justified, based on the fact that OSU was winning (close games) in the same fashion as they did when they won it all. Looking back, I still think it could be argued either way. True, OSU lost two games that year, but for having absolutely zero running game (thanks Clarett) and a suspect passing game, we still won another BCS game. :roll:

The bottom line is with as many unbeatens as their are now, we shouldn't have already decided who is in the damned title game before the season is even close to completed...and barring a trojan or UT loss, we have. Major bullshit, since Va Tech is looking like probably the best in the nation and the Trojans don't even really look top 2 in my opinion.

I have liked TT since he made the "jr. high offense" crack about PSU after whooping the Lions in the Cap 1 bowel. Dude's definitely got some spunk. I tend to agree with his general point on this, as well. Were his team a legitimate contender for the title again this year, the comments might carry some more weight.

Personally, I think USC is totally deserving of a high ranking. I think the minute someone ties their shoes wrong, or that they aren't clicking like the best offense ever seen, folks are lined up out the door to announce that they are on the way down.

That's what makes backing a top contender interesting.

Two. After the '02 season, several Trojan fans and Cali pubs were bitching USC could beat any of the championship contenders and '03 was one of the biggest cryfests the BCS system has yet seen.

Two games. Notre Dame. Overrated, and you still needed last minute heroics to pull that one out. A late pull away against an average ASU squad would be the only other real quality win USC has as far as I can tell...except maybe the mighty ducks. :roll:

Explain how ND is "overrated" and what they can do to lose that tag. They've kicked the shit out of 2 teams that were supposed to beat them (Pitt and Purdue, who both turned out to be horrible), beat a team on the road they were supposed to lose to (Michigan, who is overrated), crushed two teams they should have (Washington and BYU), lost to one team they shouldn't have in OT (MSU) and took the #1 team in the country to the wire. A team that is trying to be the first 3 peat winner in the sports history, and a team that has two of the top Heisman contenders, including last years winner.

So, how exactly are they fucking "overrated"? Because the teams they've played have sucked? Give it a fucking rest. Overrated may be a team that can't hit a fucking field goal to save their life, or that schedules 1AA teams as part of their OCC.

Genie wants to cite two games for USC, ND and ASU. It appears that Genie is saying that USC is overrated because USC barely beat ND and ASU is seemingly the only other quality opponent.

Like I said, just an observation.
