(snicker) Genius Lloyd names Mike DeBord OC

Post by Screw_Michigan »

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr announced Tuesday (Feb. 7) that assistant coach Mike DeBord has been appointed offensive coordinator. DeBord replaces Terry Malone, who accepted an assistant coaching position with the NFL's New Orleans Saints.

After two seasons as the Wolverines' special teams coach and recruiting coordinator, DeBord returns for his second stint as the team's offensive coordinator. DeBord served as offensive coordinator for three seasons (1997-99), including three straight Jan. 1 bowl victories in the Rose, Citrus and Orange bowls. U-M claimed the 1997 national championship during his initial season as coordinator.
Carr names DeBord OC

i'm pretty sure blue land is fired up about debord, who failed miserably, spectacularly, and recruited murderers during his pathetic stint at central michigan, being named OC. yet another lloyd carr crony getting a sweet gig not because of credentials, but because he's lloyd's boy.

sweet christ, after the shit he pulled in mount pleasant, i guess i'm not really surprised he "landed on his feet" at scu-m and is now in line for a head coaching gig once lloyd retires/gets run out of town.

I think the second paragraph of your c&p job showed plenty of credentials. He's been there before, a change had to be made and was.

I'd really like to see a change in the DC position.

What do credentials have to do with getting a gig ?

well, at least john loser smith did pretty well as HC at louisville. debord did nothing but lose 8 games per year each year he was in mount pleasant (except for the win in 00 over wmu, which i am obviously still bitter about).

maybe in the next few years well start hearing about quality debord recruits stomping dudes to death out side of AA bars. that's quality shit. i'm sure that we'll see debord (great last name for an OC) open up the traditionally stuffy scu-m offense.

you like this decision because you like losing 5 games a year and losing to shit programs like nebraska in alamo bowls.

I wish Lloyd can take a risk and hire outside of the Michigan family. DeBord wasn't a bad coach before he left for CMU...some guys are just better and focusing on smaller parts of the team and not the entire squad.

He can't be any worse than OU's choice for OC, the guy who has ran off half their Oline.

Maybe he will have the same success with the offense that he had with the line. :D

I hate it when the HC never goes outside his comfort zone or fires any of his assistants.

I've heard rumors that weenie fans want to snag Georgia Tech DC (& former tOSU DC) Jon Tenuta to Scum Land. That would be a great hire which is exactly why I don't see it happening.

Bigger rumor going around right now is that there will be a major coaching change by Michigan, possibly naming Mike Trgovac as DC. If not him, then Seahawks DB coach Teryl Austin.

Yeah I heard the Trgo rumor. Seems that some feel he is being groomed as next in line after manmellons Lloyd has another below UM standard season. BTW has anyone seen the UM blogger with all the pics and shit. Pretty good one of a Large speedo clad Weis man holding hands with a hot ass biatch. Something about stealing Leinerts woman, pretty funny stuff.

Yeah, you really have to break out the deductive reasoning to figure out where "Western Michigan" is located.

oh the same old tired and predictable directional-school/mac school smack. save it.

listening to michigan fan after their loss to nebraska, scu-m sure acted like nebraska was a shit program (well, they DID lose to kansas for the first time in 40 years). maybe not the class acts on this board, but this board is .0001% of all scu-m football fans out there. don't be hating on me because a lot of scu-m fans wanted to vomit over the fact they lost to a shit program like nebraska.

debord may do an ok to decent job as OC at scu-m, but i don't understand why more scu-m fans don't see the real reasoning behind this hire: debord is, most importantly, lloyd's boy, and he grew up in the bo family. when lloyd steps down (unless he wins four games next year and gets fired), debord will be the first in line for head coach.

you guys may not have any problem with this hire right now, but just wait. just wait. a man who failed miserably at cmu could become the next head coach at scu-m.

only in the bo family could this ever happen. or maybe nebraska.

"Shit program"???? Define shit program, please. Better yet, define a mediocre program. Nebraska has a couple of bad years (by their standards) out of the last 40 years and suddenly they're shit?

Michigan lost to the 05 Nebraska team, not the 97 Nebraska team. And the 05 Nebraska team is a "shit" program.

Hope that helps.

Just for clarification purposes, that would make the '05 Michigan program a "shitter" program, than the '05 Nebraska program.

I believe you agree with that no matter what direction we're comlng from.

The last time DeBord was OC he went 34-5.

Brutal....

:meds:

I am always amazed at how much time Sparties spend worrying about what happens at the Fort. Maybe you should be worried about why John L is still coach, of if you'll make a Bowl game in the next 5 years.
Those who stay will be champions.
