Yes. Despite what BSmack would have you believe(you can tell the press and gullible people just about anything, and they'll believe it), it's known as the "Warn-a-Brother" program...hence the Warner Borthers logo tattooed on his shoulder.smackaholic wrote:does melo actually run a 'don't be a snitch' program?

Dude...you're talking about a guy who used to psche himself up for his "epic" duels with Magic by kissing his opponent before the game...so you tell me.
Isiah is the embodiment of "oussy." This guy long so hard for superstardom, that he was the forst to run his mouth after a game. In reality, he played with some great, great platers...and he wasn't one of them. His best assets as a player were his ability to run to the microphone and take full credit for "his" team's successes, but his greatest attribute was playing on the same team as possibly the most underrated player in the history of the game -- Joe Dumars.
Hey Isiah...remind me again who it was out there shutting down the Greatest Player of All Time through those playoff runs, and who initiated the offense every time down the floor.
If given the opportunity, I wouldn't hesitate to punch Isiah Faggus in the mouth so fucking hard his grandchildren were born with bruises...if for no other reason, than as retribution for all of those time as an analyst when he would drop "back when the greats played the game...you know, myself and Magic and myself and Larry and myself and Michael and myself...back when we were leading our teams to championships...blahblahblah" at least once ever 20 minutes.
He was an average player, with an above-average ability to take credit for the accomplishments of others. POssibly the worst defender on a team that won with defense.
And right near the top of any credible "has no class" list. Just a true douche if there ever was a douche. But I'll give him credit for one thing -- he definitely bought into one of his coaches philosophies...too bad that coach is Bob Knight.

Dins, I think he is a complete piece of shit. A typical crybaby nog. However, if you refer to him as an "average" player, then you must have not watched much NBA basketball back in the 80's when it was watchable. He was the on-floor captain of those championship teams, and was a prototypical point who could pass, shoot, run the break and penetrate. I think you are waaaaaaaaaayyyyy off on this one.Dinsdale wrote:He was an average player.

No, I'm dead-on.
Again, his best asset was his mouth and playing on the same team as A) one of the greatest players to ever play the game, and B) having that great player possess great amounts of humility, who was content to let Isiah take credit for all of the victori4es that HE engineered.
FACT.
Sidenote funny -- One of my bestest buddies teaches "troubled youth." Basically a high svhool for criminal/gangsta kids. And every last one of them is a crazy-hoops-freak. During breaks and lunch, he "teaches" the jids about NBA history. This was inspired after hearing one of them say "Allen Iverson is the greatest player of all timer." After my buddy got doner laughing, he said "gather 'round, children, and let me tell you about the greatest players of all time. I grew up watching hoops in the 80's, when many of the all-time greats did play. And if you put together an all-time team, Allen Iverson would get run out of the building." Then one of the little felons busts off with "You might be right Mr Cooper -- Isiah Thomas played in the 80's." I guess my bud just freaking lost it, and went with "Let me tell you about Isiah Thomas, kids. The only thing he was 'great' at was running his mouth and playing on the same team as Joe Dumars...who was the only guy who could ever consitantly shut down Michael Jordan, year in, and year out. Michael Jordan wasn't shit until the Pistons were riddled with injuries."
Back when myself and Magic and myself and Larry and myself and Michael and myself were winning championships"...puh-fucking-LEEZ. Dude knows what's up -- he knows full well if he doesn't promote the things he never did until his deathbed, this guy's a footnote in the history books...a footnaote that reads "he played with Joe Dumars." HE needs to mention himself in the same breath as Magic, Bird, and Airness, since no one else with a brain is ever going to.
I will give him credit for being the absolute best at self-promotion in the history of team sports.
Hell, Terry Porter slapped the dude a couple of times, and from that point on, dude's only "game" was to lob 3-pointers from halfcourt. Straight-up pussy. Of course meanwhile, Joe Dumars was busy shutting down Clyde Freaking Drexler, seeting screens, and quietly leading HIS team to another championship.
'Tis fact, bro.

Dins,
Vernon Maxwell shut down Jordan as good, if not better, than Joe D. Of course, I see what you are saying about Dumars, and I agree.
Why do you think JD is still associated with the Pistons and Isiah is coaching one of their bitter rivals? The Pistons want noting to do with Thomas.
But, I just wanted to correct your statement that JD was the only one who could consistently shut down MJ. Maxwell owned MJ. And Maxwell is why I give the finger to anyone who says the Rockets only won the championship becasue MJ sat out.

Well, they did kind of have that one guy who did a decent job of defending the paint...there is that. To give Mad Max(sup Blazerfan...hehehe) full credit for any success against Jordan is stretching things more-than-a-little. If you make Jordan a strictly-outside player, he was nothing special. It was the threat of his moves to the basket that made him what he was, and that one dude for Houston made it difficult to do much inside.
Sin,
MA
But I, along with any other fan of the NBA, laments the fact Jordan's and Hakeem's teams never met at their peaks.

Dins, it's OK to not know everything there is to know about this particular subject.Dinsdale wrote:'Tis fact, bro.
I hate to defend him because I loathe him, but he was way better than you give him credit. Dumars was a great shooter and a top-5 defender in his day, but Thomas ran that team. Given a choice between the two to start a team, Isiah wins hands down. At the end of a close game, there was NOBODY better with the ball in his hands than Isiah. I'm not saying I necessarily want him to take the last shot, but I want him bringing the ball upcourt and running the offense. Sure, he was surrounded by an all star cast, but he made them all better. One-on-one, for his size, there were few better.
I guess we can disagree on this all day (which I'm sure would make your afternoon), but I just don't think you understand basketball from some of the comments you've made.

Warn a Brother is ghetto slang and t-shirt fodder. It's not a "program" of any kind.

Nobody's saying Melo is a saint. But he sure as hell isn't running any damn "programs" in Baltimore.

Maxwell was the Bowen of his day, however. If you look at the stats Jordan had when playing the Rockets while MAxwell was there, you would see an average of around 18-20 points a game, far below Jordan's career averages in his prime. Maxwel was just a hell of a defender. Yeah, Hakeem was great. Max shut down MJ.

Well, if I wasn't too busy bowing down to your abviously superior knowledge of basketball history, I might explain about that one legendary incident in which Mad Max ran up in to the stands and started dropping science on Blazerfan, which for all intents and purposes marked the end of his productive playing days.
I would explain that to you, but with your superlative knowledge of all things NBA History, I guess I don't have to.

Sorry, but there wasn't anyone that could shut MJ down. Once the bulls got him some help with pippen and a few other interchangable dudes, they never lost while he played a full season. As for dudes shutting anyone down from that piston teams, I'll go with the worm. I remember later on when he was with da bulls the magic wif shaq nearly getting over. The thing that stopped them was Rodman's amazing ability to get inside the big guys head. Hell, the way he defended him, it was like he was in his jersey. Too bad he's such a headcase because he is one of the best defender/rebounders evah. I haven't seen anyone else take shaq like that mano a mano. A few years later the admiral tried, but, dry fukked him, then wiped his dick on the spurs curtains. A few years later it was a different story when he had duncan to help out.

Dins, I agree with you about Dumars and the Pistons. Vinnie Johnson was fun to watch as well. But I'm with ST on this one. I saw Thomas play in person, as a rookie against George Gervin's Spurs in the early 80s. Dude was flat out sick even as a rookie. I don't know if I'd put him up there as one of the greatest ever, but he was a great player and a key piece in that Detroit team.
Also, since we've thrown in dudes who could successfuly guard MJ into this discussion, Sean Elliott was no slouch either. Jordan never went off against SA in the Robinson days, mainly because of Elliott. Hell, SA and the Bulls were a couple of games away each from meeting in the finals in '95 -- the second year Houston won it. Of course, Hakeem was playing out of his fucking mind during that playoff run (coming back from a 1-3 deficit against Barkley's Suns, if I remember correctly) before going onto the Finals and sweeping a Shaq-led Orlando. I'm not sure it would have mattered if Chicago had beaten Orlando that year against Houston, but I would have loved to have seen SA and Chicago play that year.

Your math is quite fuzzy. Maybe if you broke it down you could possibly explain how his tattoo means he's running some kind of "don't snitch" program. Like I said before, "Warn-a-Brother" is nothing more than ghetto slang. It is not the name of any damn program. Now show me a fucking link or STFU.Dinsdale wrote:Uhm, BSmack -- Melo is sporting a "WB" freaking tattoo...do the math, dumbass.

Good.
So, let's move on to the pressing issue here -- you being a complete fucking dumbass.
OIt's a "yes" or "no" question, dumbfuck:
Does Carmelo Anthony have that very logo you posted tattooed on his chest?
Yes, or no?
If you need some help, I can post a pic of it for you, if you like.
And before you regale us with your next bout of douchebaggery, please bear in mind that the Warner Brothers Network, nor any of it's various subsidiaries have any sort of endorsement deal with Anthony.
You are truly a fucking dumbass.

And when taken to task, he ran away from his actions like it was Mark Aguirre, as he saw those buhzillion dollar endorsement deals slipping away right before his very(stupid) eyes.
Which, oddly enough, was about the same time he came up with the believable-only-to-idiots story about "uh...uh...uh...that tattoo means...uh....uh...it stands for West Baltimore, where I grew up...uh....yeah, that's the ticket...West Baltimore. It has NOTHING to do with the 'Warn-a-Brother' thing that I made a cameo in a video to promte....no, sirree...it's West Baltimore."
I guess I can't blame him -- apparently, there are some really gullible people out there.

Ah, so now the backpedaling begins. First its a program. Now it's something less than a program. Maybe just an idea? A concept? Or maybe he got that ink on his arm before the whole "Warn A Brother" t-shirt thing even started and it really does just stand for West Baltimore.Dinsdale wrote:OK, excuse the fuck out of me for calling it a "program."BSmack wrote:Your math is quite fuzzy. Yea, that wasn't Melo's finest hour. Of course before this weekend's fiasco, that was the ONLY black mark on Melo's resume. Which goes back to what Wolfman was saying 4 pages ago about being surprised that Anthony was involved in the brawl. Of course Dins, still smarting from his asskicking at the hands of Peter Boyle's resume, thought he could gain a measure of dignity by yet again hyperventilating in his attempt to mash the reply button with this...Headhunter wrote:I'll save you the inevitable "link?" post.

So where is this "WB program"? Where is the footage of Melo speaking to young black kids telling them not to snitch? Near as I can tell by that link, he doesn't offer any opinion whatsoever on the subject.Uhm...dude has gangsta tattoos; speaks out in his native 'hood about his "WB" program, where he seeks to convince young African Americans to never testify or provide police with information about fellow black...and even sports a "WB" tattoo to show his dedication to the cause, and is a known "gang associate."

This "faux" outrage that somehow a pro athlete is involved with criminals is funny though.
And another thing ....
Oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout bassetball, a white man got to pull Larry Bird out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. Larry Bird , Larry Bird, Larry Bird.
