Up until the Montana St game last year, MSU was one of the 3 or 4 remaining teams not to have played a D1 AA school. I was pretty disappointed when that streak came to an end.

The number you're looking for is 5. The others were (are): USC, UCLA, Washington, and Notre Dame.

For all the shit we take about our schedule (some of it legitimate, at least in recent years, although that appears to be changing down the road, with Oklahoma, Miami and Texas all on the schedule in years to come), I'm fairly confident that ND will never schedule a 1-AA team. Possible exception to that if the service academies ever drop down, but that's the only possible exception I could ever see happening.

again Oklahoma, Va Tech, Tennessee, etc all coming in the next few years...

scheduling is scheduling...everyone makes it out like it is so fucking hard...well if basketball can schedule 2 years out then Football should be able to...this way you get teams when they maybe more at a peak rather than on the decline or falling back to average (Miami of FLA this year for OSU)...

Like Spray pointed out...Miami isn't what they used to be...but when the slate was set they were...it could happen TO ANYONE...here is the deal though...OSU has COMMITTED regardless of how the conference is to play one marquee OOC game a year...I think they have done an EXCELLENT job of taking a pretty good cross section of blue blood teams (sup Texas, OU, USC) and some newer blood Miami, CAL, Va TEch, etc...plus you throw in Tennessee in 2018 and 2019...how fucking stupid is that...if tennessee sucks gorilla balls...OSU gets no credit...and I wouldn't expect them to...

but as I look out over say the past 10-15 years with OSU they have gone to:

Washington - when they were pretty good and not so much
WVU - 1998 with Bulger they were #14 and we butt fucked them in the mouth
Texas
USC
Miami next year
we have hosted WSU and Texas Tech in the same year sup 2002...

so again they are playing the one big OOC game...and now that the Big 10 is getting their depth and quality back ...it should benefit them...

Hopefully, they've recovered a bit by 2018... they do kinda have one of those crystal football thingies, which should reduce the rebuild time.

But... welcome to Oregon's world. Every now and then, there's a cupcake, but it's generally a rival from the Old Days, such as Idaho, and occasionally there's the state-school-cash-grab with Portland St... but other than those, O usually tries to play marquee teams OOC.

And Tenn was a damn good team when they scheduled them for 2010. And New Mexico was on a stellar climb, and was almost becoming a perennial spoiler and bowl game fixture... until Oregon scheduled them for 2010, at which point they decided to rival Wazzu for Worst Team In The Country.

Add in that Portland St game this year (remember, the PAC only plays 3 OOCs), and it becomes a rather SEC-like schedule.
