As Goobs and Mikey are alluding to, there isn't a chance in hell that BSU can finish ahead of Stanford in the BCS if Stanford runs the table.
Boise St's only hope is for there to be no more than one undefeated team from a BCS AQ conference, and even then it's no sure thing that they'd get in over a one-loss OU or Oregon, both of which would see their computer/human numbers receive a huge boost with late-season wins over Top Five teams.

Yep, I KMOA as I haven't check the latest BCS standings with Stanford being at #4 until a few seconds ago. Dins, BYU won the mythical NC years before the BCS corruption came into being.
My apologies to those I've wronged and am glad Boise State won't get a shot as they are a gimmick team. I would bet Oregon would beat them and possibly injure a few of the BSU players.

Goobs, this might be why I'm KMOA here. I use the CBS Sportsline site for about everything.

The last I saw a week ago the BCS had BSU at #4 and now there is Stanford. BSU shouldn't even be in the top 5 IMO.

So is Feeldix feeling stood up? BSU left the WAC last year to join the MWC that Fresno is joining next year. Fresno had a WAC game with BSU here a few weeks ago and got their asses handed to them by a "system" team that would get clobbered in the SEC if playing an SEC schedule.
Injuries would kill BSU after a few weeks and you want to go with semantics with me? Feelsdicks, why don't you tell "us" how Boise State would do in the SEC. The SEC is the absolute best football conference in the country and you can't deny BSU would get their asses handed to them. I would even say BSU wouldn't do well i the PAC 12 either.

Re: Alabama-LSU
Wouldn't matter even if Boise St was #4 and Stanford was #5. Your point never held water. That ranking changes weekly, and it was always going to swing in Stanford's favor if they finished up with wins over USC, Oregon, Cal, ND, and in the Pac 12 CCG. There is nothing left on BSU's schedule to counter any of that. Simply beating Oregon would likely leapfrog Stanford over Boise St for good.Atomic Punk wrote:Yep, I KMOA as I haven't check the latest BCS standings with Stanford being at #4 until a few seconds ago.
He was well aware of that. His point was that the method of determining the national champion in 1984 is not the same one we use now. Under the current ranking system, Boise has no chance of finishing ahead of any undefeated BCS AQ team.Dins, BYU won the mythical NC years before the BCS corruption came into being.

Felix, don't misunderstand me. It's never been my contention that Boise St couldn't "last" in the <fill in the blank> conference. All I've ever said is that they wouldn't go 11-1 or 12-0 (or anything close to that) every year if they had to play a real schedule. Simply put, they'd incur losses here and there and wouldn't be skating into BCS bowl games without breaking a sweat, is all.

the reality is that your response was exactly what I expected it to be, a stumbling, bumbling nightmare....I pointed out that you weren't aware of what conference Boise State plays in, and you claim this to be "semantics" (you should look up the definition of the word semantics) then staying true to form you go off on some tangent talking about watching Boise State beat up Fresno State, then veer off again, rambling something about Fresno joining the Mountain West next year....you then pounded out some incomprehensible statement about Boise State being a "system team" (whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean), then roller coasted off the path once more stating that Boise State wouldn't last in the SEC or the PAC 12...dude, you're a fucking mess...Feelsdicks has mental issues and has to use my valid point as his sig to deflect reality.

Re: Alabama-LSU
Van, I went to the University of Oklahoma and was in their NROTC program and was a walk-on as a punter. I can describe in great detail that building that doubles the South endzone where the scoreboard is.
You walk in and the practice fields are behind the scoreboard with astro turf and natural grass. There are 2 field goal posts at the edges of the field to give you different wind conditions. Former kicker Uwe von Schamann saw me strugglllingggg one day as he showed up to Spring practices. He said he's not a punter but showed me a technique how to kick into the strong winds.
That facility that has the scoreboard has two levels. The bottom floor on the right is where the 2 locker rooms are. When you 1st walk in on the wall to the right are pictures of previous famous OU football players like Billy Sims, etc. The 1st right is the locker room for all of us hacks. the 2nd locker room is for the starters and looks like any NFL locker room. Onthe left side is the equipment room then the weight room.
Upstairs the 1st thing you see is an OU helmet chair next to the secretary's desk. Right by it is a mini theater where the team sleeps while game films are being played. To the left side is a HUGE office that looks like the one Craig T Nelson had in "Coach" that is Barry Switzer's.
If you go outside there is an alley that had all of the assistant coaches offices. This area was directly under the scoreboard you see on TV. I used to stay after practice with Mike Winchester who was the fastest guy on the team. We played the game "kick back" and he always had 1 second hang time and 5 yards on me every time. When I transferred to USC he ended up being the starter along with my buddy Tim Lasher as the place kicker.
I'll never forget me saying a smart ass comment and Barry Switzer took his cigarrette out of his mouth and asked who the fuck I am. Switzer smoked a pack each practice. Marcus DuPree lasted one year and Spencer Tillman showed up the next.
Now at USC (where Van didn't go) there is this building called Heritage Hall. The 1st thing you see when you walk in is a bunch of Heisman trophies in glass casings. Downstairs is where the coaches offices are. Behind Heritage Hall are the same type steps that lead down to a weird grass field that almost nobody uses... except for me. I used to bring a bag of footballs and kick the living shit out of said footballs since the NROTC there said that myself and a long snapper where Juniors and the Navy has too much invested in us to get injured.
Jack Del Rio came out one evening and saw me punting and yelled something at me, laughed then went back inside the Hall. A later day a DB came over and told me Troy Richardson sucked (I was told USC had a bad punter which is why I transferred there) and told me a story.Ted Tolner was the coach and Troy popped off to the team. Ted said "Troy, you are the only one in this room that can kick a football and not hit a wall."
So what's my point Van? Have I ever told these stories before? No. You know why? Because who gives a fuck? Why you want to represent MY school in these discussions is beyond me. You can be a fan all you want, but I actually lived a bit of it even though I ever played but was at least was on the practice fields.
I have never once shared these stories... but some of you clowns act as if you are calling plays in the huddle. You don't know shit.

AP, everyone on this board including you has played the exact same number of snaps for USC or Oklahoma: zero. The difference is, practically everyone on this board can speak to the subject of football with far greater clarity and infinitely less self-serving obnoxiousness than you ever will.
On top of that, between the two of us, care to take a guess as to which one sounds for all the world like a pathetically shitfaced carny while the other would actually be believable were he to try to represent himself as a graduate of USC?
None of which changes the fact that your latest episode of transparent onanism inexplicably attempts to answer a question no one in their right mind would ever ask: "AP, would you please tell us another one of your wildly pointless Forrest Gump stories?"
See, each time you try to position yourself at the center of whatever name-dropping tale of abject narcissism you're posting on any given day, we really don't hang on your every word. Believe it or not, 88 neither seeks nor welcomes your advice on football coaching tactics. mvscal and Roach simply smile to themselves and pat you condescendingly on the head every time you spin another incredulous yarn wherein you supposedly led the hunt for Red October. Jimmy Meds never sought you out for a "fellow USC alumnus" internet knucklebump. Pat Hill is tired of your constant attempts to claim 'insider' credit for every goddamned thing that ever took place in and around the city of Fresno. Jeff Tedford still refuses to "friend" you on Facebook.
Now I could be wrong, but it's likely that even the horrified orderlies who change bedpans with you do their damndest to distance themselves from you just as much as possible, the same as everyone here. Christ, man, even your buddy Y2K thinks you're long overdue to set down the bottle.
You really are an unmitigated fucking mess. Literally, if you're not being mocked, you serve no other purpose here. You're that horrible.

I want to stick with a high score of 31-24 "Bama due to possible match up adjustments by the OC's. A 24-17 Goobs-type pick sounds more reasonable due to the tough defenses. I'll stick with the higher score based upon the coaches that know what they are doing.

It's like you Southern boys are cool and going fishing with you or going on a motorcycle ride with Sudden Sam would make for a fun weekend.

Not really. It's quite easy to despise both.Jsc810 wrote:Les Miles vs. Nick Saban: The Grass Meets the Process
You're either a Nick Saban guy or a Les Miles guy. .....
Jesus, Jsc, could that article involve any more blatant SECBSH fellating of Les Miles? Dude is not connected to the Gods of Sod, nor does he have any karma. The guy is simply coaching absurd amounts of talent by the seat of his often truly stupid pants. He gets away with his crazy shit because of that talent on the field, not the brilliance between his ears. Stick that dork on the Mississippi St sideline and he's a bovine Sylvester Croom.
Other than at Michigan, Les Miles is not a particularly hot coaching commodity. Nick Saban? He could nearly name his gig in college football.

Hey Van, I'm willing to bury whatever there needs to be buried... but why the hate on those two coaches? Those two can easily coach NFL teams and they are sticking around in the college ranks. You're a smart dude, so why the hate?

Re: Alabama-LSU
What hate? It's just disgust at the over-the-top slobbering by the SEC media for a rather buffoonish coach. Seriously, do these clowns have even the slightest idea how foolish they sound to the rest of the country?
Damn, people, it's just football...kids playing a game. Contrary to apparent popular belief down there, SEC coaches are not modern incarnations of Hannibal and Alexander the Great.

You do realize the whole reason Saban is at Bama is because he bombed out of the NFL........right?Atomic Punk wrote:Those two can easily coach NFL teams and they are sticking around in the college ranks.

Re: Alabama-LSU
It's not the whole reason, but yes, he bombed out of the NFL. Remember he had Daunte Culpepper as QB for the Miami Dolphins and it wasn't going to work out so well for him.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:You do realize the whole reason Saban is at Bama is because he bombed out of the NFL........right?Atomic Punk wrote:Those two can easily coach NFL teams and they are sticking around in the college ranks.
