Christians among us...
Take your time and read the Scriptures within this post.
God does not, and can not lie. Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18, among others.
And we can see what the value of His Word is.
Isaiah 40:5-8
[5] And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
[6] The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
[7] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
[8] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
God's Word very clearly and plainly tells us in many places that He established the earth such that it can not move, and never will move.
Psalms 104:5
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
1 Samuel 2:8, Job 38:4-6, Psalms 93:1, 1 Chronicles 16:30, and others.
The earth DOES NOT ROTATE, and it DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND THE SUN.
God made a firmament which covers the earth - and called it Heaven.
Genesis 1:6-8
Think about this.
Within the firmament God placed the sun, moon and stars.
Genesis 1:14-18
God placed waters above this firmament.
Yes, there are waters above the sun, moon, and stars.
Think.
The waters were still there at the time that God inspired His Word through King (and Prophet) David.
Psalms 148:4.
The firmament is not space.
It is a tangible thing.
Job 37:18
- The sky is strong and is as a molten looking glass -
There is a tangible firmament above the earth, where God has placed the sun, moon and stars for us. With water above that firmament.
A dome, if you will, with water above it.
Isaiah 40:22
Read the following passages and decide if they describe a "flat" earth or a ball earth.
Daniel 4:10-11, Matthew 4:8, Revelation 1:7, Isaiah 40:22.
Heavens as a curtain, a tent over the earth. A dome, with God sitting atop the circle.
God utterly destroyed the words, idols, thinking, greatness, and systems of Egypt - by the blood of the Lamb.
If you place your roots in the words of people or their systems, you will continue to be at a very big loss.
They have established corrupt systems, corrupt "knowledge," and they worship a god(s) of their imagination.
They are fools.
All that they have lied about -- their system and their establishments, will be destroyed.
In devastating and comprehensive fashion.
2 Thessalonian 2:7-12
[7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
All will go bye-bye, but God's Word endures eternally. Isaiah 40:8.
Jesus Christ IS the Word.
John 1:1,14

And it's to discuss what the Bible says about the nature of the earth, etc.

Actually poptart, to break character for just a moment, there is a very important point that Jsc is bringing up.
To whit, the Bible has been translated and retranslated dozens of times, for political and spiritualexcuses reasons.
So which version is the true "Word of God" version. Also, what makes the version of the Book you adhere to better or more true than all the rest.
When did God specify this exact copy.
Please specify this in exact scripture. Show us where He prefers King James, Old Testament, New Testament or any of the other variants out there. It might help Metatron get things straight,

I've posted 20 passages of Scripture in this thread and have asserted that through these passages (and MANY others, btw), we can clearly see that...Jsc wrote:As you know, the Bible wasn't written in English, it was copied by hand and translated many times over hundreds of years. - His Word will stand forever
- He established the earth so that it can not and will not move, ever
- He created the firmament, and placed the sun, moon and stars within this firmament

Gobbler, this thread was not started to talk about whether or not science and tech has disproved flat earth, moving earth, firmament, etc.
It was started so that I could post what THE BIBLE says about these matters.
You grew up in the Church, I think.
So you're familiar with the Bible to some extent.
If you think THE BIBLE tells us something different than what I put up in my first post in this thread, go ahead and post the Scriptures.
I'll be glad to look at them.
God's Word says what it says.
Maybe you've noticed that nobody has yet posted anything FROM SCRIPTURE to refute what I've said.
So-called "science" has a long history of wavering and changing course.
My conclusion is that God's Word is the authority -- and that conclusion is not based on whim.
God is my God.
NASA and "science" are not.
Their lies are overwhelming evident, imo, and the integrity of God's Word stands firm.

About the firmament.
About it's shape.
I've posted plenty of Scripture to show you what I base my conclusions on.
Unless you can do this, I rest my case.
I am NOT misinterpreting what the Word says.
The Word just does not match with what other sources (you, people, NASA, "science," media, etc). are saying about these things.

Point one: By your own admission, the Bible says nothing about flat Earth, so why belabor the point?
Point two: as such, your opinion is neither right or wrong, it is just opinion, rendering it meaningless in light of provable fact.
Point three: You have posted plenty of scripture, though you have failed miserably to tie it into relevant context or import as to your flat Earth mythology.
Point four: Your interpretation is just that. A close minded interpretation based on sources without science, fact or photographic evidence. it is simply what you feverishly want it to be, nothing more.
Point five: The Word doesn't match any aspect of your flat Earth argument. The Word(s) of all faiths have been abused and misunderstood since the beginning. That you read and understand or misunderstand them the way you do, simply makes you one in a billion of other folks, grasping at straws, hoping they hold up to a little breeze of scrutiny.
Straw arguments, like structures, collapse under a breath. As you are running on fumes, you may want to save your last one.

Joshua 10:13
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Re: Christians among us...
God created the earth on day 1 -- and created light for it.
He created the sun on day 4.
If the earth is supposedly revolving around the sun, what was the earth orbiting for 3 days before God created the sun?
Genesis 1 clearly describes an order where the earth is stationary and the other objects move around it.

Re: Christians among us...
How you read that and come to a flat planet is proof positive of your own biased and flawed interpretations. It speaks of God sitting on top of a circle (that's gotta be uncomfortable), with the heavens being both a curtain and a tent. Really? Last time I checked a curtain and a tent are two very different things. As is a dome, so which is it?poptart wrote:Your first point is off base, Jay.Jay wrote:Point one: By your own admission, the Bible says nothing about flat Earth, so why belabor the point?

Heavens as a curtain, a tent over the earth. A dome, with God sitting atop the circle.
How you arrive at a description of a flat Earth, goes to explaining a he'll of a lot about your rather curious perspective.
No, they don't, as shown above by that silly Biblical analogy. As already mentioned, I have read numerous variants of Scripture and each and every theologian I have spoken with would laugh out loud at your speculation. That's because many people of faith actually think for themselves sometimes and fully embrace science and faith together. Open minds and eyes and all that. You should try it sometime.Did you read the Scriptures there?
Each passage gives us imagery which aligns with the earth being "flat."
Certainly not a round ball.
Re: Christians among us...
Okay, you want to look at one of the verses, which, btw, is perhaps the only verse in the Bible I've seen anyone use to try to say the earth is round.Jay wrote:How you read that and come to a flat planet is proof positive of your own biased and flawed interpretations. It speaks of God sitting on top of a circle (that's gotta be uncomfortable), with the heavens being both a curtain and a tent. Really? Last time I checked a curtain and a tent are two very different things. As is a dome, so which is it?
How you arrive at a description of a flat Earth, goes to explaining a he'll of a lot about your rather curious perspective.
Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
The Scripture exactly describes this picture.
Then let's look at the other three I posted...
Daniel 4:10-11
Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
Matthew 4:8
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
All of the passages lend themselves to the earth being FLAT.
Clearly.
Those who have surrendered to "science" and NASA.Jay wrote:every theologian I have spoken with would laugh out loud at your speculation.
Romans 11:4
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Re: Christians among us...
Christians, I highly recommend you take time to watch this Rob Skiba video.
He is a Christian and is very balanced and rational in his approach.
The video is a little long, and the "intro" is longer than it might need be, but the video is a GREAT watch.
I consider this very important.
There is some very good info within the last 20 minutes of this video.
If you watch and somehow skip past some of it, don't miss the latter part.

Re: Christians among us...
Poptart, I'll accept this here as your answer to the question I just asked in another thread.
While you have answered, your response is once again, not just flawed, but outright false.
Not a single one of those lines say "flat Earth". Not one.
You are taking those words and using them...are you ready...as METAPHORS!
Not fact. YOUR metaphors to be exact.
In other words, epic fail.
Go to bed pops, you're drunk.
