Favorite "Patton" Lines
One of the best war movies of all time was on TCM tonight.
George C. Scott was NAILS as one of the USA's most brilliant, if eccentric,
military commanders.
OK, here are two of my faves:
After a key victory in North Africa:
"Rommel, you magnificent bastard! I read your book!"
Soldier in France: "Where are you going, General?"
"Berlin! I'm gonna personally shoot that paperhanging sonofabitch!"

the best is when George C. Scott is talking about getting shot in the nose to whom ?
Karl Malden, the guy with the biggest nose on planet earth.
Karl Malden, the guy with the biggest nose on planet earth.
""On a lonely planet spinning its way toward damnation amid the fear and despair of a broken human race, who is left to fight for all that is good and pure and gets you smashed for under a fiver? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar!"

Let's blame that one on co-screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola.mvscal wrote:Unfortunately, Patton and Rommel never fought against each other.Funkywhiteboy wrote:After a key victory in North Africa:

In the context of the scene, it's still a great line, IMO.

Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
Thirty years from now, when you're sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you, "What did you do in the great World War II," you won't have to say, "Well... I shoveled shit in Louisiana."
They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol.
