Funny how the team that gets rushed on the least gives up the fewest rushing yards, eh?

You might want to check that.

Funny how the team has by far the lowest yards allowed per carry gets rushed on (almost) least.

1.9 avg vs. 3.2 for the next lowest.

-31 yards total in the past three games. And one of those was against the best team in the country.

No doubt.

But for now the ypg and ypc are both lower than Bammer's.

I do have to throw a caveat in here that in NCAA stats sacks count against the rushing totals. 17 sacks in the past two weeks didn't hurt the overall average.

I don't. Oregon has shown they have all the fight of Scut Farkus when an elite defense punches them in the mouth.

Sudden Sam wrote: After the embarassing defensive performance last Saturday, we shall see if Smart and Saban get the defense back on track or if the Aggies exploit them this week. If Bama struggles against Johnny Football, I'm afraid we may not see the UA-OU pairing in the BCS title game.

The right side of that O-line isn't all it's been cracked up to be.

It's either going to tighten up or get exploited.

IF Oregon wins out, I'd just as soon play Bama, to silence any naysayers.

But let's play the rest of the games first. I think one of the Big Four is going to go down before it's all over (based on gut feeling)... ND vs USC being to obvious candidate. Oregon has a couple of very solid defenses to get past/through, too (but the offenses of both are quite questionable).

But there's really only one game left... Kal on saturday night.

Best D in the Pac?

:?

Isn't that like trying to decide the best beer brewed by Budweiser or Miller?

Not really.

Those are flyover beers.

Out here we brew quality into both our football and our beers.

Not so fast, there, macro-beer breath:

Bud and Miller are brewed in the Cali neck-enclaves of Fairfield, Irwindale, and... Los Angeles.

I don't know any of those places.

Anything between Newport Beach and San Buenaventura, and east to around Barstow, is just dead space for some reason.

Oh yeah and the I80 corridor, whatever that is, seems to come up blank too.

You guys obviously didn't get the sarcasm implied in the title of the thread.

Must be either short memories or the election season draining the sense of humor out of even BTPCF.

As long as our defense is better than Cal's it's gotta be the best in the nation. By definition.

That would be the same team that's rated #3 or 4 in any of the defensive efficiency ratings.

Your lot plays them in a couple of weeks.

Oregon leads the nation in scoring, right?

So where do they rank in RZ scoring?

Sorprisingly enough, they're #2 in RZ scoring.

LaTech is #1.

Well, your guys just fukking rock. There's no two ways about it. OK, they rock both ways.

I may be looking for a different game to watch after the 1st qtr on 11/17.

The same team that's 40th in scoring defense? :P

(actually - Oregon is #2 now in RZ defense, BYU is #1)

You Old Men in the SEC don't seem to understand that the more you give the ball to your opponent, the more they tend to score.

It's really not all that complicated. When you people start playing some offense, you'll understand.

Again, look at efficiency numbers (many different way to calculate it) -- Oregon generally trails only Bama and LSU... except in the red zone, where they're better.

Oh, it'll be a show. No way Stanford's anemic offense is going to do much.

BTW -- most people around here seem to think Furd's secondary is going to get lit up like a christmas tree this coming saturday.

Might be 2 straight losses for Stanford.

But let's play the games anyway.

Sounds like Faux News talking up Romney on Tuesday.

Don't count on it. Stanford's pass defense isn't that bad. It's just that teams seem to have given up trying to run against them.

Look at the PAC12 pass defense stats

third lowest yards per attempt
second fewest TDs against in spite of having the most attempts
completion pct in the middle of the pack

And they've already played the three best (or at least most prolific) passing offenses in the conference.
They pretty much shut Barkley down, as much as he can be shut down. No TDs, 2 INTs and only what, about 260 yards?

OSU just might have a chance, if Vaz actually survives the game.

This actually should be one of the best matchups of the week.

Not much lighting up going on so far.

Seven plays, one first down on a penalty, two punts.
That last pass should have been a pick six.

On the other side, one drive stopped by a fumble and one by the end zone.

Whew...close escape. OSU is a very good team.

Still Rose Bowl eligible. The sack put the game away.
