Does Modest Mouse sound too much like Pavement?

Post by King Crimson »

i've been "re-visiting" some old pave records and i'm surprised the comparison never struck me before.

yes, no?

I like the Mouse....but they really do sound like Pavement.

or, am i crazy? i don't read stuff anymore, but or is it too obvious?

I'll answer the question with a question:

Does Pavement sound too much like the Flaming Lips? :P

I was thinking more about older FL material than the newer, more "spacey" stuff.
I was trying to make a funny. They can't all be winners, dipshit! :P

i guess i was thinking of the brighten the corners LP specifically re: pavement and MM.

i'll also note that the Flaming Lips released 5 LP's and an eponymous debut EP before Transmissions from the Satellite Heart (the one with She Don't Use Jelly)--

i woulnd't really call that "earlier" stuff. They had been a band for almost 10 years when T from the SH came out.
